Community Christian Church first met on April 13, 1980, arising from members of the North Tacoma Christian Church, which met at 2502 East 38th Street. The North Tacoma congregation dissolved and merged with the Antioch Christian Church to become the Castleton Christian Church, but some of their members wished to remain in the neighborhood. Their first meeting place was in the building occupied by
Ebenezer Lutheran Church, at 4160 Millersville Road. Dr. Wilbert Cunningham, a chaplain with the Indianapolis Police Department, led the congregation and the early years saw two interm part-time ministers Carl Alexander and Derik Davidson. In early 1984 the first full-time minister was called (Sam Winger), who had been serving as a chaplain in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Christian Church Evangelizing Association assisted with finances during this period. In late 1985 the Ebenezer Church was forced to sell their building, and Community Christian's offer to purchase it was outbid. The congregation then purchased their current property at 3921 and 3929 Millersville Road for $70,000 (payable over two years) from John and Betty Hoffmann. Winger served as minister until February 1990, when he left to become director of the Inner City Mission in Springfield, Illinois. Joe Seidel was called as interm minister and served for about one year. During that time, William Martin was called as our part-time Minister of Education and the church began a building program to replace the small house being used for worship. The current building was dedicated on October 17, 1993. In 2006 Larry Bates and a handful of people founded Life Line Ministries. They worshiped at the Madame Walker Center on the 3rd floor. After a short while they moved to the 4th floor. The new congregation started to grow and in 2007, after prayer and fasting, they merged with Community Christian Church. The name was changed to Community Life line Christian Church. William Martin and Larry Bates became Co-Pastors, and continue to lead God’s people as God leads them.
