πŸ•ŠοΈ Juneteenth πŸ•ŠοΈ

On June 19, 1865, freedom that had been declared two and a half years earlier finally reached the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas. Today we remember that gap β€” between freedom proclaimed and freedom realized β€” and we recommit to closing it wherever it still exists.

As a church, we believe the Gospel isn’t silent on justice. Jesus opened His ministry declaring good news to the captives and freedom for the oppressed (Luke 4:18). Racial reconciliation isn’t an add-on to our faith β€” it’s part of what it means to follow Him.

Today we give thanks for the resilience of Black Americans, we lament how long freedom delayed, and we recommit to the work of justice and reconciliation in our city and beyond.

Show some love to the Gaither family! Congrats.

We're so excited to welcome sweet Daphne and Eleanor! As Aj, Brittany, and Cece adjust to life with their newest little loves, we can help ease the transition with meals and support. Thank you for helping care for them during this special season!

What does faithfulness look like when it costs everything?

Stephen wasn't just the first Christian martyr β€” he was a Hellenist Jew chosen specifically to ensure equity for the overlooked. And when he ended up on trial for his life, he didn't plead for it. He walked his accusers through the whole sweep of Scripture, exposed a long pattern of rejection before rescue, and offered them the gospel one final time.

In Acts 6–7, Luke draws a careful parallel between Stephen's death and Jesus' own crucifixion β€” falsely accused, tried, executed outside the city, forgiving his killers with his last breath. A cruciform life isn't defeated by suffering. It plants seed that bears fruit across generations.

Watch for the young man named Saul standing at the edge of the crowd. πŸŽ₯
