James 1:12 ESV
[12] Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
How we view trials is key to our walk. Our human nature is equipped with a fight or flight" instinct for whenever we perceive a threat. This, as the name states, meet the threat head on and fight it out or run (for our lives). When we see our trials as a threat, we will respond to them as a threat and make a human attempt to protect ourselves. The Bible tells us however, that we should REMAIN STEADFAST or ENDURE when we are met with trials. Human nature may have equiped us with fight or flight, but God has equiped us with His Word and Spirit. His Word tells us to never fear and we CAN follow His Word and never fear because His Spirit is with us and will never leave us. He goes before us - He HAS gone before us. Trust that when He has gone before you, He has already settled what is before you. It's as if you are walking through a forest or a field with overgrown plants and brush. This is a very difficult and potentially intimidating task, because the the brush can be so thick that it keeps you from seeing where you're going. Then there's the dangers that exists in the forest. Just because you can't see the things that can harm you doesn't mean they can't see you. Now consider and know that someone has gone before you and not only cleared the path but made a safeguard for the dangers, so that nothing can hurt you. It makes it a lot easier to walk through with peace. Now you see why we can take joy when we meet trails, and why we CAN endure. Because our Father has already gone before us and made the way.
See your trails as a way to glorify God, because He WILL be glorified in our trials when we endure.
