but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.

A prayer for our country and leaders in this current situation:

Heavenly Father, pour Your perfect peace over our nation. Heal broken relationships, reconcile divisions, and unite citizens under Your love. Teach us to forgive, show compassion, and embrace understanding in all interactions. Let Your peace reign in homes, communities, and government offices. Strengthen leaders to foster harmony and justice, and help citizens to live respectfully with one another. May Your unity guide our nation toward prosperity, righteousness, and lasting peace, reflecting Your kingdom on earth.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen

O almighty and everlasting God, through Your only-begotten and beloved Son, Jesus Christ, You will sanctify all Your elect and beloved: Give us grace to follow their faith, hope, and love, that we, together with all Your saints, may obtain eternal life; through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one true God, now and forever. Amen.

Advent Prayer for this Sunday

I Lord, our Father, give us the strength to purify myself in anticipation of the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ. May we find the strength within ourselves to seek you in prayer, to reconcile ourselves to you through fasting and confession. Let it be done, according to thy will. Amen.

The Prayer for Today

Just for today, help me, God, to remember that my life is a gift,
that my health is a blessing, that this new day is filled with awesome potential,
that I have the capacity to bring something wholly new and unique and good into
this world.

Just for today, help me, God, to remember to be kind and patient to the
people who love me, and to those who work with me too. Teach me to see all the
beauty that I so often ignore, and to listen to the silent longing of my own soul.

Just for today, help me, God, to remember You.

Let this be a good day, God, full of joy and love.

I know Holy Cross Day isn’t ranked very high among Lutheran observances but it’s been a favorite of mine ever since I started learning about the different things in the liturgical calendar. A few years ago, Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) fell on this day and I thought that was neat. Holy Cross Day, the Day of Atonement.
