You are invited! Jesus gives the invitation in Revelation 3:20, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.” To know God is to receive his invitation. Not just to hear it, not just to study it, not just to acknowledge it, but to receive it. It’s possible to learn much about God’s invitation and never respond to it personally.

His invitation is clear and non-negotiable. He gives all and we give him all. Simple and absolute. Isn’t it incredible that God leaves this choice to us? Think about it. We can’t choose the weather. We can’t control the economy. But we can choose where we spend eternity.

The big choice, God leaves to us. The critical decision is ours. What are you doing with God’s invitation? What are you doing with his personal request that you live with him forever?

Our role, as RE-presenters of Jesus, is not to vet people but to WELCOME them! Remember that Jesus welcomes us, as we are, everyday!

A small cathedral outside Bethlehem marks the supposed birthplace of Jesus. Behind a high altar in the church is a cave, a little cavern lit by silver lamps. You can enter the main edifice and admire the ancient church. You can also enter the quiet cave, where a star embedded in the floor recognizes the birth of the King. There is one stipulation, however – you have to stoop. The door is so low you can’t enter standing up.

The same is true of the Christ. You can see the world standing tall, but to witness the Savior, you have to get on your knees. So at the birth of Jesus, while the theologians were sleeping and the elite were dreaming and the successful were snoring, the meek were kneeling. They were kneeling before the One only the meek will see. They were kneeling in front of Jesus. - Max Lucado

There is nothing more powerful than saying what God has spoken about you. When you have God’s promises coming out of your mouth, you can’t be defeated. Even when Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, He said, “It is written.” With each temptation, He went back to the Scripture and quoted what God said. When you’re in difficult times, don’t just say what you feel, what you think, or what you want. Say what God says about your situation.

Today, you can say with His authority, “I’m blessed. I’m prosperous. I’m redeemed. I’m healthy. I’m a masterpiece. I have the mind of Christ. I have peace that passes understanding. I’m more than a conqueror through Christ. My latter days will be better than my former days.” When you go around with His thoughts playing in your mind all day, you activate the power that will overcome obstacles that look insurmountable. When you agree with what God says, He’ll open doors you can’t open, and you’ll defeat enemies that are much bigger.

We all ask the question, “Am I somebody important?” It’s easy to feel anything but important when your ex takes your energy, or old age takes your dignity. Somebody important? Hardly. But remember this promise of God: you were created by God, in God’s image, for God’s glory.

God spoke, “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature, so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth” (Genesis 1:26 MSG). God never declared, “Let us make oceans in our image,” or “birds in our likeness.” The heavens above reflect the glory of God, but they are not made in the image of God. Yet you are. And because God’s promises are unbreakable our hope is unshakable.

“Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.” - Hebrews 11:1 (NCV)

The life that God planned for you to live is really pretty simple. It’s a life of faith and love.

Matthew 22 gives us the principle of love. It says “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind’ . . . And . . . ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself’” (Matthew 22:37, 39 NCV).

And Hebrews 11 explains what it means to live a life of faith: “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6 NIV).

If you’re a parent, you know how pleased you are when your child trusts you. It’s the same way with God. Your trust in him—your faith—pleases him.

What is faith? Faith is believing when you can’t see it.

People say, “Seeing is believing.” God says the exact opposite: “Believing is seeing.” Some things you’ll never see unless you believe them first.

Hebrews 11:1 says it like this: “Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it” (NCV).

Every great achievement started when someone first believed it was possible. Faith turns dreams into realities. In other words, it makes reality out of what’s in your imagination. Nothing happens until someone first believes it’s possible.

Over 40 years ago, I stood in front of a small group of people for the first service of Saddleback Church. I shared a dream God gave me for a church with 50 acres of land—a church that would minister to 20,000 people every week. People laughed. Frankly, I laughed too. We all knew the high price of land in Orange County. It seemed impossible.

But God did it. Everything God has done through Saddleback in the last four decades was impossible before it happened. But we had faith that God would do the impossible.

What about you? What dream do you have today that requires faith?

Spend some time today asking God, “What do you want me to do?” When you’re tuned into and talking to God, setting goals becomes an act of faith.

Listen closely. Jesus' love does not depend upon what we do for him. Not at all. In the eyes of the King, you have value simply because you are. You don't have to look nice or perform well. Your value is inborn.

Period.

Think about that for just a minute. You are valuable just because you exist. Not because of what you do or what you have done, but simply because you are. Remember that.
