Jeannie D. (Parsons) Bowman, 78, of Independence, MO, died Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home following a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Born September 20, 1947, in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of Rev. Harold Wayne Parsons and Oletha N. (Chapman) Parsons. She was a 1965 graduate of Clearwater High School in Piedmont, MO, and also earned a Business Certificate from Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN. On August 10, 1968, she married Rev. Dennis Bowman who survives of the home. Jeannie had a gentle, quiet spirit. She was a faithful companion and helpmate to her husband, a loving mother and grandmother, and a caring sister. She was greatly loved by those whose lives she touched.

In addition to her husband Jeannie is survived by two sons, David Bowman and Stephen Bowman, both of Independence; two grandchildren, Krysten Bowman and Aiden Bowman; two sisters, Kathy Wilson (David) of Gastonia, NC, and Waynelle Scott of Marshall, MO; one brother, Jon Parsons of Marshall, MO; one sister-in-law, Kathy Daniel (Gerald) of Somerville, TN; one brother-in-law, Joe Eaton (Jan) of Spokane, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Jerry Scott, and one niece.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Berean Free Will Baptist Church, 2104 James Downey Road, Independence, MO 64057 (816)721-1966). Jeannie's husband, Dennis, along with their sons and grandchildren invite you to come and honor the memory of their dear wife, mother and grandmother. The time of the gathering is intended to allow all who are coming from a distance to arrive when you can and to stay as long as you are able. Rev. Warren Hall will close the gathering with selected scripture, comments, and prayer. In lieu of flowers, donations to Berean FWB Church or research for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy would be appreciated. (Donations for PSP may be sent to the church with PSP Research" noted on the memo line.)

God's Call
Dear Dennis,

"And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, 'The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.' And Gideon said to him, 'Please, my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, 'Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?' But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.' And the Lord turned to him and said, 'Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?' And he said to him, 'Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.'" - Judges 6:12-15

God, in His infinite wisdom, chose Gideon as His deliverer. Gideon was known as the youngest son from the least respected family of the tribe of Manasseh, but God said he was a mighty man of valor. When an angel of the Lord revealed this call to Gideon, he was filled with surprise and a sense of unworthiness. This instance is a powerful reminder that our human understanding does not bind God's choices, and He can use anyone, even those who feel the least qualified, for His divine purposes.

It's crucial to refrain from speaking negatively about ourselves or others and allow God to work through us to accomplish His plans and purposes. We must always remember that God sees us for who we will become, not our past or present sins.

Being prepared and willing to accept God's invitation when He calls us to undertake something significant for His kingdom is of utmost importance. This readiness and willingness will not only help us grow spiritually but also enable us to serve God's purpose more effectively.

If you hear God calling you to do something, don't hesitate to respond, but rather answer Him as Isaiah did in Isaiah 6:8: "Lord, here am I, send me." Don't think that the call is for someone else. Be available to be used by God for His Glory.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, I am calling on You to prepare my heart and make it ready to hear Your call for my service. Lord, my trust and hope are in You to guide me in Your direction and for Your Glory. Lord, I commit to be faithful in loving You and sharing the story of Jesus so that all may be saved. I pray all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

Pray for the eyes of the nations to be opened to the wickedness at work through the UN and the WHO. Pray for massive revival, that millions will come to follow Christ and abandon the idols of selfishness, sin, and earthly rulers. Pray for wisdom for our leaders, and for healthy bodies and sound minds. Pray that the Lord would protect His people from calamity and tyranny, but that He would also equip and strengthen them for darker days.

Disruptive Protests Are Not a Constitutional Right

Pray for God to expose the agenda behind these protests. May He open the eyes of millions to what is happening. Pray for God's protection over the police and National Guard being called to serve and protect people and property from being destroyed. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of the deceived. Pray for victory over these dark spiritual powers at work in the hearts of college kids and professors. Pray that the church will be active and powerful, accomplishing the good tasks that God has for us.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in the hearts of pro-abortion men and women, that they will come to know Jesus and repent of their sin. Ask the Lord to convict President Biden's heart that he may repent before it is too late. Ask the Lord to repay the wicked, but also pray for His mercy on those who repent. Pray for victory in the heavenly places. Ask Him for His justice to reign. Ask Him to establish righteous rulers, who truly love and serve the Lord.

Pray for God to continue to expose the hypocrisy and persecution of conservative groups. Pray that citizens and their representatives would become aware of these efforts and stand together against them. Pray that God would unite our country under His moral law and heal our hearts.

As God calls you to His assignment, may you be found faithful to carry out the call on your life. Please Pray

Dear family and friends,

Jeannie Doris (Parsons) Bowman of Independence, Missouri for the past 52 years, is in need of your prayers for her physical and mental condition. We all know our physical bodies were not intended to last forever, but we hope that they will continue to function well for us up until the time God calls us home to be with Him.

I fear in requesting this I may sound selfish, but God knows my heart and that is far from the main reason for this request. God tells us to bring our burdens and cares to Him and this is done on behalf of my wonderful wife, who has spent her life living for the Lord and others. She is now facing a disease that is ravenously destroying her physical body and her mind also. Many have
been praying for her as the Bible teaches, but up to this time God has not seen fit to work through a miracle to take this disease away. We have consulted with the doctors God has used in the past
to help keep us healthy, but at last, they are now telling us that it is totally out of their hands and in God's hands alone.

It seems to us that several things started in 2020 with a fall that injured her shoulder. Jeannie then experienced several more falls and four failed surgeries to relieve the pain, and then several other things which seemed unrelated (to us) began to occur. After massive tests, MRIs, CAT Scans, PET scans, fluoroscopes, and so much more we were finally given a diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. The doctors said there is no known cure for this condition. It effects around 20 different functions of the body. She has been experiencing all of the symptoms but pneumonia at this point in time.

Jeannie’s condition is now to the stage that she needs help in just about everything she does. Some of the medications they are giving her to keep her comfortable are making her have
hallucinations. She is having fewer and fewer clear thoughts. God has spared Jeannie from many near-death experiences in the past. Our prayer is that God would give her clarity of mind during
this time, whatever His will may be in regards to her physical health.
