On a hot holiday weekend, you’d think everyone would be off to the lake or a Colorado mountain top. Not Independence Presbyterians and friends! A good crowd gathered in the cool sanctuary for fellowship, music, a sermon wrap-up of Genesis and holy communion. And it’s never too hot for a warm handshake or hug.

Please come to our 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday and bring a little something extra with you. We collect non-perishable foods that are delivered weekly to the Community Access Center. Two other collections we have currently are a sock drive and for women in crisis, gently used purses containing small personal care items. First Presbyterian cares about body, soul and spirit.

This past Sunday we continued the saga of Jacob and Esau, and the wrestling Jacob does with a mysterious divine figure ahead of Jacob returning home and seeing his brother again after 20 years had passed. Was Esau still angry? Did he still want to kill Jacob?
