Sin and the choices we make. While addiction may not be explicitly mentioned in the Bible, the principles found within God's Word shed light on the struggles we face and provide guidance for living a life pleasing to Him. Let's explore some verses from the King James Bible that offer wisdom and encouragement:
1️⃣ Romans 3:23:
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
This verse reminds us that we are all sinners, falling short of God's perfect standard. We must acknowledge that our choices and actions have consequences and can lead us astray from God's plan.
2️⃣ Galatians 5:19-21:
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
This passage reminds us that sinful behaviors and choices, such as those mentioned here, can prevent us from inheriting God's eternal kingdom. It urges us to turn away from these destructive patterns and seek righteousness instead.
3️⃣ James 4:7-8a:
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you."
These verses offer hope and guidance. We are called to submit ourselves to God, resist the temptations of the enemy, and draw closer to Him. Through this, we can find the strength to overcome sin and make Godly choices.
4️⃣ Proverbs 3:5-6:
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Here, we are reminded to trust in the Lord completely, rather than relying on our own understanding. By acknowledging God in all our ways and seeking His guidance, He promises to direct our paths, leading us away from sin and towards righteousness.
Let us remember that we are all prone to sin, but God's grace and mercy are always available to us. Through faith, repentance, and a commitment to making godly choices, we can experience transformation and walk in His righteousness.
May we strive daily to align our choices with God's will and seek His strength to overcome our sinful tendencies. Remember, you are not alone in your struggles, this ministry is here for you.
