At Whiskey 8, surrounded by walls of steel and wire, we gathered to remember a truth that no border can divide: Christ is with us.

Reflecting on Matthew 28:16-20, we were reminded that Jesus met his disciples in both their faith and their doubts. He did not wait for perfect circumstances before sending them out with a mission of love, reconciliation, and hope.

On Trinity Sunday, we reflected on the oneness of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—a beautiful reminder that God's desire is not division, but unity. In a place marked by separation, fear, and wounded relationships, we proclaim that God's love reaches beyond every wall and every human-made boundary.

As we stood at the fence, we were reminded that the Holy Spirit moves like the wind—free, unhindered, and present on both sides of the border. Christ calls us not only to love our neighbors, but to stand with them, defend them, and walk alongside them in times of struggle.

We may not be able to tear down every wall today, but we can build tables of welcome, practice peace, and choose solidarity over separation. Jesus' promise remains: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

May we continue to be people who speak peace where there is division, hope where there is fear, and love where there are barriers.

Glory to God for the life of Pastor Manuel, who faithfully shared God's Word—our daily bread and source of hope. We also give thanks for Lee, for offering his God-given gift of music, and for everyone who continues to show up, support, and stand alongside our friends and neighbors at the border.

May God continue to strengthen us to be people of peace in a divided world, to defend our neighbors, welcome the stranger, and live out the unity and love revealed through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. May we follow Christ wherever He is already at work, bringing hope, healing, and reconciliation beyond every wall and barrier.

Acts 3:1-10
1. One day Peter and John were going up to the Temple at three in the afternoon, the hour of prayer. 2. Near the gate called Beautiful was a man who had been lame from birth, whom people left there every day to beg from those entering the Temple. 3. When he saw Peter and John about to go in, he asked them for alms. 4 Peter, looking intently at him with John, said,

“Look at us!”

5 The man looked at them intently, expecting to receive something.

6 “I have no silver or gold,” Peter declared, “but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

7 Taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and immediately the man’s feet and ankles were strengthened. 8 He leaped to his feet and began to walk. Then he entered the Temple with them, leaping and praising God. 9. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging for alms by the Temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Hechos 3:1-10

Whiskey 8 Border Church | San Diego Side
Last Sunday, we gathered together remembering that walls were never meant to divide families or break apart what God created to be united. So much pain and separation exist at the border, yet even in those wounds, Jesus brings peace, healing, and restoration. He continues to call us back to one another — as neighbors, as family, and as one human community.

Pastor Manuel shared a personal and thoughtful perspective on the meaning of Pentecost, reminding us of the Spirit’s power to bring people together across every language and border. Lee also shared his music with the group, helping create a peaceful and meaningful space as we honored this important celebration together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in worship, prayer, and community.

Gathered together in worship and reflected on Acts 2:1-4 — a reminder that God speaks to every heart and every language. No one is too far from God. His love reaches across every wall and every border, inviting us to believe, repent, and live in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit living within us.

We are grateful for every prayer, every song, every conversation, and every person who joined us. Glory to God for every life touched, for every act of support, and for the hope we continue to share together as a community.

Thank you, Alejandra, for sharing the Word of God with us, and thank you, Tania Mendoza, for capturing these beautiful moments. May God continue to bless every family and this community with peace, strength, and hope.

Hechos 2: 1-4
Nueva Versión Internacional
" El Regalo Mas Grande"

Acts 2:1-4
New International Version
"The Greatest Gift"
1. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

W8 Sunday Worship Service 🤍🌬️
This Sunday, we were deeply grateful to gather with a wonderful group of friends who joined us at the border. In the middle of strong winds, songs of hope rose louder than the walls around us. Lee’s guitar, his music, and the songs he shared created such a sacred and peaceful space for all of us.

Pastor Manuel shared a thoughtful and heartfelt message as he reflected on the suffering, uncertainty, and challenges that many detained brothers and sisters continue to endure. His words deeply moved our hearts and reminded us why we continue gathering at the border — to pray together, to stand with compassion and hope, and to honor the dignity, humanity, and sacred worth of every person.

Jesus prays for His people. He prays for protection. He prays that we would be one, just as He and the Father are one. Jesus does not pray for separation, division, or walls between families. He calls us into unity, love, and belonging.
And so we are here to say:
Yes to Jesus.
Yes to protection.
Yes to unity.
Yes to being one.
Yes to a family reunited in Christ.
Yes to the truth that we belong to Him.
Even at the border, the love of God continues to gather people together. And no wall can stop the prayers, presence, and hope of His people. 🤍
