This week, the support teams assisting with the operation of the Food Pantry arrived from Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and Venice PC. Before opening the doors, we reflected on "the faith that moves mountains." First, the mountains of prejudice, indifference, and pride—which separate us from our neighbors—are moved away; and subsequently, the mountains of love, empathy, and care are drawn near by the faith that follows the One who invites us to love Him and our neighbor just as He loves us.
Separately—and in a practical sense—we were also able to move mountains of non-perishable foods, vegetables, bread, and other items. Praise the Lord!

What might constitute a Happy Mother’s Day for a female agricultural worker?
We see mothers every day—leaving everything prepared at home and heading out while it is still dark in the morning, only to return late in the afternoon following an exhausting workday in the fields or the packing shed. We witness the utmost diligence with which they care for their children whenever they have the opportunity to spend time with them—often while visiting Misión Peniel to receive some relief regarding their basic needs. These needs exist not due to a lack of work or effort, but quite the opposite: despite working tirelessly, they still receive unjust wages.
Yet, we are also blessed to see them smile and find joy—though this almost always takes a backseat. That is to say, their own happiness comes only after seeing their children smile upon receiving a toy, school supplies, new shoes, a bicycle, a treat, or anything else we are able to provide. And that smile—that joy—tells us that we are looking at a happy mother.
Thank you for your support so far and for consider a gift today to honor our mothers—a gift that enables Misión Peniel to continue standing alongside the mothers who work to put food on the table for their own families, and for all of us.

Mision Peniel exists and operates because the love, solidarity, and work of many faithful supporters. This Friday's Pantry's distribution is not the exception. We are serving at 90° F, but the workers we are serving have been on the fields under higher temperatures and for longer time for sure.
