My pants were down.
Around my ankles.
This was the worst thing ever.
I'd slid out of my car and onto my wheelchair, but, at the same time, I slid out of the pants.
I tried pulling them up, but the best I could do was get them around my knees.
And when it comes to having your pants on, "close enough" is, well... not.
I was hyperventilating by an elevator, on my way to speak at an International Women In Business meeting.
But first I needed to first find someone to help me pull on my pants!
A janitor came and waited with me for the elevator. I noticed her pants...they were up. I felt confident she'd understand my need!
On the elevator I told her my dilemma and she happily helped.
It was a complete non-issue to her. I know because I kept thanking her over and over and she kept replying, "Oh, it was nothing."
But it was something to me.
I'm sure she went home and had a good laugh about the lady who needed help pulling up her pants, but I went home and told my husband about the janitor goddess I met miraculously in the elevator.
I think that women are always more than happy to help where we are needed, but the problem is that women like to be the ones who serve, not the ones who are served.
The challenge for today is to find someone to serve, whatever you can do, do it! And part II of this challenge is to identify an area where you need help and then, gasp!, ask for it.
We can't always be the ones who help, sometimes we've got to take one for the team and let others fill in the gaps!
