After God had saved His people Israel and blessed them, He charged them to forsake all their other allegiances and serve Him (Joshua 24:14-15). As God’s people, we too have been called to repent from all others to serve the Lord’s kingdom purpose.
In 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5, after dealing with the believers’ understanding of God, His purposes, and His ways, the Lord had Paul teach us how necessary faith is for our service for the Lord. Those who obey the Lord’s call must serve Him with faith that He will empower the work and provide for us as we serve Him.

One old hymn encouraged us to count our blessings, and it reminded us that doing so would surprise us with what the Lord has done.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17, after explaining what will happen to unbelievers in the end, the Holy Spirit had Paul contrast that to teach us how believers can experience the blessed life with the Lord. By living in the blessings of God, we can experience the wonder of God, His nearness, and His peace.

Has your faith been truly tested yet? Brace yourself; it’s coming. Will you stand strong when it comes? Most people are confident in themselves to do so. Unfortunately, therein lies our problem.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, when the believers had their faith tested by confusion, the Holy Spirit had Paul teach us how to stand against doubts and deceptions. We as believers need to prepare ourselves to stand strong in the Lord during times when our faith will be tested, because those times will come.

In Romans 12, God called us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The biblical principle for life transformation is this: our lives are shaped by our faith; and faith is shaped by understanding God’s truth from His word.
In 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12, knowing that the faith of the new believers would be challenged, the Holy Spirit had Paul teach us to strengthen our faith by focusing on who God actually is. Those who have a biblical understanding of who God is and what He does will have lives full of gratitude, full of faith, and full of prayer.

Once we have called on Jesus to be our Savior, we soon realize His call for us to follow Him as our Lord, to walk with Him on a journey of faith. But how do we go about doing that?
In 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28, as Paul closed this letter, the Holy Spirit had him give a remarkably concise picture of what this new walk with Jesus should look like. Those who would follow Jesus are to live continually with Him, helping one another and growing in faith along the way.
