ASK YOURSELF... IS THE OLD WINE FINE?
Luke 5:37-39 AMP - "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new [fermenting] wine will [expand and] burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one, after drinking old wine, wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is fine.’ ”
The foundation of the Church as we know it today is old wine... one pastor who preaches, a congregation who sits and listens, a one hour "service" scheduled on one day each week at the same time, hymns or performed music established by humans, a bulletin structure that repeats each week, an emphasis on programs and events to "meet the needs" of the congregation, and an expectation for churchgoers to sign up and serve.
Churches refer to Sunday morning services as "worship," but the concept of worship in most churches has become a noun that lacks in power, lacks action, and lacks Holy Spirit fire. Often, "worship services" rarely resemble a worship of God in the way that points to worship in the way the definition of the word implies, "profound reverence, adoration, or honor."
STOP DRINKING THE OLD WINE...
Upon drinking the old wine, Scripture says that no one wishes for the taste of the new. New wine is fermenting, growing, and alive. It's in a process of changing, expanding, and becoming. Bursting at the seams, the new wine is ready to break open the blueprints of American churches that have held old wine for decades.
WHERE ARE THE WORSHIPERS?
What American churches have presented as holy and good might have worked to raise up believers in previous generations, but Holy Spirit is stoking fires in believers today that doesn't fit in those old wine skins. The true worshipers are being awakened, and they are driven by an inner power which yearns to experience worship as an action verb, expanding and growing like new wine. They desire Truth strong enough to stand firm on in a confused and muddy world of noise, and they have been equipped with powerful callings that need to be a flexible yet strong. The true worshipers are looking for new wine skins to house the Spirit which are alive and burning to extreme levels inside of them.
John 4:23-24 AMP - "But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
As we look around us, we see a Christian culture that consists of old wine skins that pour glass upon glass of what has been poured out for hundreds of years. Most drink the old and remain content until next Sunday routine.
STOP DRINKING THE OLD WINE and open the Word of God. Pray for eyes to see, hearts to seek, and ears to hear the truths that Holy Spirit is whispering to the worshipers in the dark, ready to be acted upon and spoken in the light.
Some, in search of NEW, have fallen into traps that look mighty shiny, but have no Scriptural foundation. What is sold as Holy Spirit is sometimes a mirage, you see. We each must know the Word of God and discern truth from mixture, good from evil, love from affirmation, holy from vomit, and hot from cold. The new wine that is being ushered in isn't just new because it's new, it's new because Jesus is coming to make all things new again.
Be sure that you're drinking from the right cup of wine, my warriors, because the cup you choose makes all the difference.
