As we watch the predicted snow totals for this weekend continue to rise, I want to clarify the details of the State of Emergency and the Emergency Order Restricting Travel to ensure everyone’s safety.
I know there has been some confusion about who is allowed on the roads. This order is in place for a very important reason, to protect our residents, to give our highway crews the space they need to clear 12–24 inches of snow, and to keep our essential workers safe.

Effective: Sunday (Jan 25) at 5 a.m. through Monday (Jan 26) at 5 p.m.

During this time, travel on Dutchess County roadways is restricted ONLY to emergency vehicles and essential workers. If you are not in one of the following categories, please stay home and stay off the roads:
• Emergency & Public Safety: Law Enforcement, First Responders, and Public Safety personnel.
• Medical: Health facility and medical personnel.
• Infrastructure: Utility, maintenance, and public works crews.
• Snow Removal: Personnel involved in sanding, salting, and clearing operations.
• Facility Operations: Individuals deemed necessary for plant operations by their employers.
• Government: Public and government personnel involved in emergency operations.
• Media: News media personnel reporting on the storm.

By staying home, you are helping our first responders get to emergencies faster and allowing our plow drivers to clear the roads more effectively. Putting yourself at risk on the road puts our emergency workers at risk, too.
Please look out for your neighbors, keep your pets inside, and stay warm. We are all in this together!
For updates, please monitor the Dutchess County Website or follow our emergency alerts at:

We support Hope On a Mission. Amazing, awesome ministry. Served over 28,000 meals in 2025. Wow!

Jan. 1 is the Feast of the Circumcision and Name of Jesus. It’s a festival that’s easy to overlook, but it’s an important one, because it’s the day we remember the first time Jesus shed His blood for us.

"And at the end of eight days, when He was circumcised, He was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb" (Luke 2:21).

We pray: Lord God, You made Your beloved Son, our Savior, subject to the Law and caused Him to shed His blood on our behalf. Grant us the true circumcision of the Spirit that our hearts may be made pure from all sins; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

"I’ve decided to stand for the presidency of the Synod once more. If elected, 2026–2029 will be my final term. I’m thankful for what has been an amazing run. I’m deeply humbled to have been able to serve our beloved Synod all these years.

"This past triennium has seen many blessings for the LCMS. After attending 25 district conventions in 2025, I noted that there is not a dour, defeated attitude among our pastors and people. Quite the opposite. They received my teaching from the Augsburg Confession with great interest and joy. Our folks have faced many challenges in the heat of the day, and they’re still standing and confessing Jesus. And they are optimistic. I heard throughout the church that young people, families and especially young men are showing up at our congregations 'out of the blue,' most finding us via the internet and podcasts by faithful and talented pastors. They are seeking authenticity. With our commitment to the ancient order of the Divine Service (2023 Res. 4-04A) and biblical preaching of the Gospel in all its articles (FC Ep X 7), we are blessed right now with opportunity."

We celebrate many gifts, but the greatest one was already given — Jesus.
Hope. Love. Forgiveness. Salvation.
Truly, Jesus is the best gift to us
