(and with roots in a congregation first established in Cottage City, Maryland), Hyattsville Mennonite Church (HMC) grew and soon moved to the Woodridge neighborhood of D.C. before settling into our current building in Hyattsville, Maryland, in 1959; a major rebuild was completed in early 2013, with improved and increased access to all parts of the church, especially for those with physical disabil
ities and difficulties. The congregation is a member of Allegheny Mennonite Conference, a district conference of Mennonite Church USA. HMC is also a member of the Supportive Communities Network, a program of the Brethren Mennonite Council for Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Interests (BMC). We strive to be a diverse church, accepting all identities, with congregants from all over the U.S. and other countries like France, Honduras, Netherlands, Kenya, El Salvador, and elsewhere. We span a wide range of ages, and have a large group of younger children. We welcome and affirm all gender identities and sexual orientations. We speak many languages, although our services are mostly in English. Many of us grew up Mennonite, but many did not. We come with all sorts of abilities and gifts. We are at work both in our local communities and across the U.S. We are all at different places in our lives and faith journeys. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only meeting virtually for the time being. You are welcome to join us every Sunday for worship at 11:00 a.m.; Sunday School for all ages is also available. Please email: [email protected] for more information on how to join our virtual worship services. We celebrate communion usually four times a year, including World Communion Sunday, which is the first Sunday of October. Other projects and ministries we are involved with include:
Jubilee Association of Maryland, Inc. PG Plaza Day Center
Congregation Action Network (CAN)
Life After Release (LAR)
