ROME UPDATE

As we come together in mourning for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, we would like to share some important updates regarding the Papal Funeral and the upcoming Jubilee events for Persons with Disabilities and Persons who are Deaf.

For pilgrims in Rome attending the Funeral Mass for Pope Francis on April 26th at 10:00 AM, please note that the entrance designated for persons who are Deaf or have a disability will be from Piazza del Sant’Uffizio.

Additionally, the Jubilee celebrations for persons who are Deaf or have a disability will proceed as scheduled. No changes have been made to the planned events. You can view the full schedule for the Jubilee for Persons with Disabilities here.
Details for the Jubilee for Deaf Persons on April 30th are also available online.

The Universal Church joins together in grief at the passing of our beloved Holy Father. For those traveling to Rome and participating in these significant days, we pray for your safety, for open and grace-filled hearts, and for the strength to embrace this sacred chapter in the life of our Church.
In faith and unity,

As we enter into this season love Peace, Joy, hope and love, we give thanks for the gift of the Word made Flesh. We rejoice at the miracle of God entering our world with love beyond our understanding. The International Catholic Foundation for the Service of Deaf Persons wishes you, and all those you love that very Peace, Joy, Hope and Love our newborn Savior brings to us this Christmas.Merry Christmas, and prayers for a New Year filled with blessings and joy.

We look forward to seeing many of you this April in Rome for the Jubilee of persons who are Deaf! We were delighted to learn about the Canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis. An Italian teenager who died from leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. He is known as the "cyber-apostle" and the "Millennial Saint" because he was born between the early 1980s and late 1990s. Acutis is known for his love of the Eucharist and for promoting the faith among his peers. He is also the first saint to be canonized for intentionally using the internet for evangelism. Acutis' canonization will take place during the Jubilee Year of Hope, making it a historic event. It will also represent the first millennial saint, which could inspire more faith among young people. This very happy event will take place while we are all in Rome! April 27th at 10:30 am. Stay tuned for how we will meet to be able to sit together to be able to watch the interpreters. Details to be posted shortly.

Each group will be making their own arrangements for the Pilgrimage. The Vatican is organizing the gatherings for Persons who are Deaf and those living with Disability. April 28- 30, 2025
