Incarnate Word Vocations provides information to Catholic men who would like to discern a religious and priestly vocation to the Institute of the Incarnate Word. In addition to founding the Institute of the Incarnate Word, Fr. Buela also founded the Institute Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara and the Secular Third Order. Together, these three branches make up the Religious Family of th
e Incarnate Word. Priests and brothers of the Institute of the Incarnate Word consecrate their lives to prolonging the Incarnation of Christ within every culture, by assuming what is authentically human and elevating it to the standards of the Gospel, that is to say, to redeem it in Christ. Due to the breadth and importance of its founding charism, the Institute of the Incarnate Word can take on many apostolates. Thus priests and brothers of the Institute work in parishes, schools, houses of mercy, and seminaries. In addition, priests of the Institute of the Incarnate Word are also dedicated to preaching the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, popular missions, and attending to the faithful through spiritual direction. The Institute of the Incarnate Word currently has missions in 38 different countries around the world. The majority of these foundations are communities of apostolic life, but some are also contemplative communities. As the Incarnate Word Himself spent the majority of His life hidden from the world, it is not foreign to the spirit and charism of the Institute that communities also be established for those priests and brothers who wish to dedicate themselves entirely to God through prayer, fasting, and penance.
