This Sunday, we'll look at James 3:1-12 and the juxtaposition of Influence and Responsibility. Each of us has a sphere of influence—from small to large. No matter the size, within those spheres our words carry a heavy impact for others and for ourselves. James says our tongues have the power to set the entire course of our lives on fire. 🔥

2023 is the 150th anniversary of It Is Well with My Soul by hymnist Horatio Spafford. This hymn was born out of the tragedies in Spafford's life. The death of his four-year-old son, the financial ruin of the Great Chicago Fire. Then the death of all four of his daughters when the ship carrying them across the Atlantic Ocean sank. His wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, "Saved alone …". Shortly afterwards, as Spafford traveled to meet his grieving wife, he was inspired to write as his ship passed near where his daughters had died.

This Sunday, we'll look at James 2:14-26 and the juxtaposition of Faith and Works. We talk a lot about how we're saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. We go to great lengths to make it clear that we are not saved by our own works but by the work of Christ. Yet, James says that workless faith is dead. We're going to look at how these seemingly contradictory statements can both be true and explore how faith produces good works.

We hope you'll join us Sunday at 10am for service 😁 There's nothing like worshipping together🙌

The letter of James is an early letter guiding believers how to live like believers. What does it look like when our faith translates into action as we follow Jesus? Over the next several weeks we'll ask ourselves that question and more as we mine Scripture together Sundays at 10am.
