Have you ever wondered why the communion table sits in the center of the church?

It wasn't always that way! Centered around 1 Peter 2:9, this sermon takes us through a quick dive into history and challenges us with a big question: How do we take God's table out into the world today?

It could be feeding the hungry, visiting the lonely, or simply showing kindness to a stranger. We are called to carry Christ’s love wherever we go.

Are you carrying around the weight of past mistakes or feeling like you're just not good enough?

In Sunday's sermon, Pastor Changsu explored Romans 8:1–2 and shared how to break free from self-condemnation by shifting from a me-centered mindset to a Christ-centered one.

Whatever guilt or stress you're holding onto today, remember: in Christ, you are forgiven, loved, and set free! ✨

"Show proper respect to everyone." — 1 Peter 2:17 📖

Is it really possible to show respect to everyone? Even those who disagree with us?

In this week's sermon from Hutto Discovery UMC, we dive into:

🔍 The meaning of respect.

🕊️ Recognizing the imago Dei (image of God) in every person.

🤝 Moving past first impressions, prejudice, and quick judgments through the grace of Jesus.

In Sunday’s sermon, "Writing a New Chapter of Acts," we looked closely at Acts 3:6–8 and the healing at the Gate Beautiful.

In ancient Jewish culture, illness, suffering, or physical disability were often associated with personal sin or divine punishment. Because of this societal stigma, people with disabilities were judged, marginalized, and spiritually excluded—relegated to sitting outside the sacred spaces.

But Jesus taught differently.

When Peter reached out his right hand to the man, it wasn't just physical healing taking place—it was radical restoration. Beyond gaining the miraculous ability to stand, walk, and leap, the man’s immediate reaction was to walk directly into the temple courts! After spending 40 years sitting outside the gates, he was finally able to worship, praise God, rejoice, and belong.

The Book of Acts doesn't end in ancient history. Through our everyday acts of compassion, reaching out, and breaking down barriers, we are writing the next chapter together right here in our community.

🍦 Ever ruined a recipe by guessing the measurements?

In today's message, Pastor Changsu shares a relatable story about how substituting a tablespoon of salt for a teaspoon completely ruined a batch of homemade ice cream!

What does salty ice cream have to do with our spiritual walk?

Just as a single wrong measurement can ruin a recipe, tweaking or ignoring God's guidance can throw off our walk of faith. The Bible is our primary "recipe book" for life—the Living Word. Read it daily, slowly, prayerfully, meditatively, and faithfully.

"You don't need a fancy or perfect-looking faith to be strong—you just need to stay welded to Jesus."

Did you know that in John 15, Jesus tells us to "remain" in Him 11 different times? When we stay connected to Him through prayer, Scripture, and community, nothing can pull us apart.

And if you’re feeling weighed down lately, remember: God isn't looking to cut you off. He’s reaching down to lift you up onto solid ground so you can thrive again.

Ever think about what kind of story your life is telling? 📖✨

In today’s message from Hutto Discovery, we dug into Acts 1:1–2 and the Greek word: poieo. It’s used for "to write," but its root literally means "to do" or "to act."

In other words, for the early followers of Jesus, writing the story and living it out were the exact same thing! Faith isn't just words on a page or talk without action—it's how we love, serve, and show up for each other every day.

The Book of Acts doesn't end at Chapter 28; we’re out here writing Chapter 29 together through our actions.

Catch today's sermon, "What do you write?", and be encouraged for the week ahead! 👇

Strangers coming together to make a friend. 🤝

Imagine a space where total strangers sit down, share a meal, and leave as friends.

At Pancakes & Praise, you actually have the time to sit, slow down, and get to know the people around you. It’s a chance to build real, meaningful connections with your neighbors over a great breakfast and uplifting music.

We wish you were here to share a table with us—come let us get to know you better this Sunday!
