Matthew 16:24 "Deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me."
The Believer's life was never promised to be easy. It is a battle, filled with pain, loss, hurt, rejection and hard times. The part of us bound to this world is fighting the part that's bound to Heaven.
It's a battle we cannot win....but God can. He already has!
We have to choose, every day, to deny the flesh...saying no to our feelings and our desires. In doing so we pick up our cross, the gift of sacrifice through Jesus's blood, and we choose to follow Him...
To follow Truth, the Word of God. For He is the way.
Only when we have thrown down OUR weapons, OUR armor, and given up, admitting we are weak and incapable, does God step in.
He will carry us through the battle, fighting for us. Even when the path forward is dark and confusing, He will guide us, lighting the way, one step at a time.
And through our surrender, by giving up and letting Him take control, we will find incredible peace. Even though the battle is fierce, and life is hard, we will not be scared, because we will know God's got it! And we will even count it as a blessing when hard things come our way, for it is just one more opportunity for God to take care of us.
