Bishop David Wilson issued a statement this evening related to the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The bishop asks for prayer for the family, for the community in which the shooting took place and for our country. He urges United Methodists to resist evil.

In an effort to streamline our processes related to Mission Shares, we would like to offer our churches an opportunity to review the income portion of the stats that have been reported for 2024 and make any necessary changes prior to the 2026 Mission Share letters being sent in September.

Therefore, a fillable pdf document titled “Download an Income Correction Worksheet” has been added to the Remit & Statements section of the conference website as a hyperlink.

You will only complete this form if you have corrections to the income section of the 2024 stats report.

If you have questions concerning the 2024 stats you submitted, please contact your District AA for assistance.

Aug. 29, 2025, is the final day for adjustments to be made in the calculation of the 2026 Mission Shares. Please do NOT submit the form if you do NOT have any corrections.

At this time, we anticipate the 2026 Mission Share letters will be completed and available on the Conference website by Sept. 15, 2025.

ICYMI: Throwback Thursday - Vol. 123 - Hadley Methodist Church

Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the southeast corner of East Avenue F and South Elm.

Hadley Methodist Church was started as a mission in 1889 by the Rev. C.R. Thoburn. This mission was frequently called the Boot & Shoe Sunday School. The first photo shows the chapel, completed in 1890, at 401 E. Ave. F.

The United Methodist Church’s top court ruled that a church closure cannot be used as a method of disaffiliation. The Judicial Council also struck down as unconstitutional changes to the church-closure law. The two rulings were among five the church court released dealing with church exits and closures.
