This week, several members of ClearDFW were part of a group of fifteen United Methodist clergy from North Texas (Horizon Texas Conference) who traveled to Washington for a gathering of more than 2,000 UMC clergy from around the country.

They worshipped and marched to the Capitol.

We met briefly with a member of Senator Cornyn’s staff. (Pictured here)

Rocío Bamihe Julie Gilmore Harding and Eric Folkerth were all able to share stories of the harm done to migrants at the Dallas Field Office, court, and on our streets.

We made clear that through our work with La Colectiva NTX, Vecinos Unidos Dfw, Dallas For
Change, El Movimiento, and many other clergy and organizers, that our first hand stories differ from the rhetoric we hear from the Senator. We demanded just treatment for migrants as children of God.

Call to Action today!
Dalfen Industrial, a real estate giant headquartered in Dallas, is currently in talks to sell a warehouse in Roxbury, New Jersey to ICE just as was happening in Hutchins.

​Join this action in Dallas today to tell Dalfen Industrial to publicly announce they will not sell to ICE or DHS!
• ​When: Friday, Feb 20th | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• ​Where: Corner of Preston Rd & McCallum Blvd, Dallas (Near Dalfen HQ)
• ​The Mission: Show Dalfen that whether it’s in Texas or New Jersey, we won’t stand by while they profit from detention.

Responding to several media inquiries today…

There are media theories being floated that ICE might open a detention center on Carpenter Fwy in Irving.

We at CLEAR DFW have been aware of this location since October.

One of our clergy members investigated and took this picture at thst time.

It remains unlikely to us this Las Colinas building will be a detention center; but is almost certainly additional admin space.

That said, we’re hope journalists continue to run this down.

And we hope the press and the public will remain viglant about other possible detention sites in North Texas.

Yesterday many of us began the day ready to rally to support Hutchins City Council continuing to stand against the DHS purchase of a warehouse in their town for the purpose of caging 9500 humans.

By midday we had learned that our public pressure campaign had STOPPED the sale, as Majestic Realty released a statement naming their refusal to sell or lease to DHS and their desire to find another tenant suitable for Hutchins. 🎉

We ended the day with a Victory Rally, honoring the work of the mayor, city council, elected officials and the public in making this happen! CLEAR’s own Rev. Eric Folkerth spoke urging us to “Remember this day, for there will be many more bad days to come.” This victory will be a future encouragement when we need it. We can remember what people united, taking a moral stand, can accomplish together!

Thank you to every single one of you who stood with us in these efforts, who organized, who called, who shared, who spoke out, who protested and rallied, who prayed and acted!

Hold on to this hope. Love wins. ✊❤️

Hutchins, TX 75141) for a brief victory rally, where we’ll celebrate and draw attention to how we can combat other ICE detention camps in DFW and beyond!

We have been given this statement from a PR firm connected with Majestic Realty:

MAJESTIC REALTY CO. STATEMENT RE: BUILDING IN HUTCHINS, TEXAS

“While we were contacted about the potential sale of our building in Hutchins, Texas, Majestic Realty Co. has not and will not enter into any agreement for the purchase or lease of any building to the Department of Homeland Security for use as a detention facility. We’re grateful for the long-term relationship we have with Mayor Mario Vasquez and the City of Hutchins and look forward to continuing our work to find a buyer or lease tenant that will help drive economic growth.”
