Good morning!

I hope that the week is starting off well for everyone. Monday’s can be tricky. Mine definitely started off with a noise complaint connected to exercise. Nothing made me feel more firmly entranched into my actual adult life than having the police called because I was being too noisy making healthy life choices.

It’s obviously time to meet more neighbors.

In any case, this week kicks off our regular school year programming for our Junior High and High School students. First a short timeline and then a tl:dr description for activities afterwards.

Schedule
Tuesday: 4:30-6. Cooking for the students.
6pm-8pm. Youth Group.

Wednesday: 6pm-8pm. splash day.
7pm-8pm. Choir meeting.

Thursday: end of school day-6pm. Open gym for students.

Saturday: men’s trip to CCC classic car show.

Sunday: worship service

Food for youth: The students are welcome to come to the church by 4:30 and assist in cooking. The food prepared will feed students on Tuesday night, and any leftovers will be available for students who come and assist with music on Wednesday evenings, as well as students participating in Thursday open gym.

Youth group: students will play games, eat dinner, sing songs, and receive a Bible lesson. The next series will focus on the concept of Justice, Mercy, and Fathfulness, how God gives them to us and how we are expected to give them.

Splash day: this is a whole family activity. JH and HS aged students are welcome to come spend time with me at the church as we prepare the music ministry for transition. They are also welcome to come and enjoy the fun and games. Following this week, Wednesday evenings will have an element available to all students for a short devotional and then instruction, if so desired, in how to operate the technical aspects of a worship service. Students will also be welcome to participate in the church choir that sings on Sundays.

Open Gym: students are invited to bring their homework to complete on site, or to expend some energy or frustration in the gym. We will have some refreshment available. Younger siblings are welcome at this time too.

Car show: this is a men’s ministry event for the church. Meet at Birdville stadium at 5:30pm. The cost is whatever you want to spend on dinner after the car show.

Sunday: our small groups meet at 9am. Youth gather in the worship center and then we will walk to our classroom.
For the worship service at 10:30, we will have students participating in baptism this Sunday! I encourage everyone to be there to cheer them on.

If you have any questions, please email, text, or call.

Good morning everyone!

I wanted to send out a quick update on upcoming events:

On 12 February we will have a youth lockin from 8pm to 8am. It will include food, games, movies, and karaoke.

I sent out via text message to students who opted in on Tuesday and Wednesday an invitation into something called “Project: Launch Pointe” which I wrote about last week. If you would like to see for yourself, please go to npfam.com/launchpointe

It requires a password. Please message me for that.

The challenge is a set of activities that will help to encourage spiritual discipline. Also on the page is a walkthrough of the “my field” portion, which will be tied to our weekly lessons. Since we have some folks who learn at home, there is some flexibility in each of these activities, but they ARE aimed at taking our faith walks outside of our worship and home setting. Please understand, I expect everyone to make choices about these activities first with regards to family safety and preservation of health on behalf of everyone in your home. Put simply, I totally understand if you need to wait on some of these activities. I will ask students to keep proactive about logging in their activities. We will have masks as the first tier of reward, branded with North Pointe students branding, then T-shirts, and finally a hoodie.

I am excited to step into 2021 with our student ministry. I discussed this with some of our students a few weeks back but we are going to step up our game with regards to what we are asking of students. There are a few key areas where I am adamant that all students become proficient before they graduate high school. “Proficiency” for me is not perfection but equipment and upward mobility toward a sustainable excellence. I’d very much like to see our students become more Biblically literate, spiritually mature, courageous toward service, experienced in leading and supplying logistical support to worship, and passionate about sharing the hope of the Gospel.

To that end, I am instituting a challenge of actions for students to take outside of the youth group setting. Some of these actions will be in church and many of them will be outside of church. I will also be giving you all a link to log these activities so that I can track who is following up on instruction and also move toward rewarding students who lean forward into action. We will be branding masks, T-shirts, and hoodies with North Pointe Students stuff as something to reach for across the coming semester.

Our Wednesdays will be shifting soon. I will provide more information on that at the appropriate time.

For now, all previous activities will remain the same.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday) we will cook food for our group starting at 4pm. Study will begin at 6pm. We will study the book of Judges. Dinner will be provided.

Wednesday evening we will gather from 6:30 to 7:30. The youth band will meet from 5pm to 6:30pm. Dinner will be provided at 6:30.

Good morning everyone!

Big week this week!

Tuesday: Youth Band Practice 6:30pm to 8pm in the family life center. We are adding pretty consistently to the band. If you have a student who is looking to learn about music and worship leadership, this is a great opportunity. It's low pressure and focused on the heart of worship arts and not the perfection of the music.

Wednesday: Youth meeting 6pm to 8pm. We will have dinner, games, songs, a lesson, and small group discussions. These guys have been rocking this series so far this week. I'm stoked for what is to come. A big thanks to Katie C for crushing the lesson this last week.

Thursday: For anyone interested, L.D. Bell has a homecoming football game on Thursday night. I know we cover a lot of schools among our students, and in an effort to begin to cover down on all of our students, we're starting this season with Bell. That said, I would still love to know when I can come support your kids in their extracurricular activities.

For any students who would like to go with us to the game, we'll meet at 5pm on Thursday in the Family Life Center. I'll have pizza and some snacks available to eat before we go. It costs $8 to get in the door, but if anyone needs help footing that bill, we can help cover down. There at the ball park, one drink and one snack are on me. Junior High students who go with me will be asked to stay with our group at the game. High School students will be given more leeway, but just asked to check in if I'm considered "responsible" for them while we are there.

In the future

Coming up on the 29th of September, we are going to have a worship service called "The Rally of Nations." Our community is extraordinary in its diversity and as a church we are celebrating the creative palette utilized by God and gathering, as a nation of people, to crown Him King. Thanks to the recent burgeoning science of ethnic DNA studies, a lot of people are beginning to discover the hints to their own forefathers' origins. For those of you who relish the ties you have with your heritage, we would like to invite you to take part in the rally of nations. Just to be clear on intention, I discovered I have a small percentage of West African in my heritage, but because I don't have any actual cultural connection to that part of my forebears I will not be carrying the flag of Togo in to the service. If you, however, have a nation as part of your heritage that you are happy to represent, please let me know. We would love to get you involved in the celebration.

In October
We are looking forward to involvement in a 6stones project, the annual trunk or treat event, and raising funding for an Alzheimers event in Fort Worth.

In October, I will also organize a meeting for parents to attend so we can discuss the remainder of the semester, any times for discussion that may arise, our funding goals for the fall and spring semesters, and the work ahead of us.

Thank you so much for championing the work that goes into your families. It is our joy and honor.

Happy MonTuesday family!

This week, we get into the nitty gritty of our Wednesday evening study topic with a discussion on the starting pieces of your den of heroes.

Just a couple of notes for what is coming this week...

Tonight (Tuesday) there will not be a youth band practice.

Wednesday: 6-8pm youth gathering. Pizza dinner included. We will have the area available from 4pm to 6pm for anyone wanting to get some work done in a quiet place on their homework. Members of the band will be encouraged to arrive at 5:50 to look over the music for the night. It will be music we have gone over before.

_______________________________

Next month we will have a few events I'm really looking forward to. We are going to look to help with a 6stones project, the church will engage with a trunk or treat event, and there is a charity walk for the Alzheimer's foundation we have a chance to raise some money towards.

This month, the church has a few great opportunities to get together with other people here in the community and enjoy each others' company. The men in the church will have a breakfast at 8am on 14 September. The women will have a bunco night on 20 September at 7pm. And the following day on the 21, the church is going to enjoy a fish fry, where people coming are invited to bring a side, a dessert, a drink, or a friend.

Thanks so much for the honor and privilege to spend time with your kids. They're awesome.

Hello everyone!

It was a great kickoff this last week. In that, I mean, wow! We ate a lot of ice cream and made minimal mess getting there. This week, we are kicking off our lessons on how to build up your Den of Heroes in school and how to change the world with that crew.

Schedule for the Week:

Youth Band- Tuesday 6:30-8:00 pm. Rides are available. Please get requests for rides secured by noon on Tuesday.

Wednesday Youth Gathering: 6pm to 8pm. If we can get the gym cooled down, we will play some games in the gym. Barring that, we will adjust as needed. We will serve pizza. I will also have a wheat and gluten free option for those who have challenges eating pizza.

I will attach a copy of the handout we used on Wednesday evening. This helps us contact you with upcoming events for your students. Please let me know how we can better serve you.

Happy Monday, Family!

For those of you starting off the week with the renewed drop offs at school, last minute supplies pickups, nervous Sunday night jitters, and extra prayers on the way out the door, I invite you to find some time today to breathe a few extra breaths. Starting school sure does heap on the stress.

This week we will begin our youth activities! We will begin on Wednesday night at 6pm. I will have information packets for you to give you a heads up on what we are studying this year, some of our long range planning, our goals for the school year, and contact information if you ever have questions about how we are doing what we are doing.

There will also be a bio data collection sheet for you to fill out for your student(s). This helps us update our system (which in some cases still lists some of our high school students as in the 6th grade. It also gives us a really good set of information for communicating in the most effective ways for upcoming events. This is to facilitate arming you with effective information before it is too late to plan. If at some point in time we are communicating too much, please let me know. We can definitely back it off.

I also know that people gather information from several different areas. The main areas we will disseminate information will be through this email service, through our facebook group, through instagram, and through the church website.

If you need any more information on anything, please let me know. We can't wait to start this week!

Aloha and Happy July everyone!

I hope your celebrations this week for July 4th were exciting, restful, and did not cost anyone any fingers. We're looking forward to what is next for the youth, this week, this month and beyond!

Today (Monday) We will begin our boys' Bible study at North Pointe. We will meet at 3pm in the kitchen at the church to cook some bacon, look at what we would like to study in the Bible and set up our future meeting times. We will also teach the boys how to properly cook bacon in an oven without setting the house on fire or making a massive mess in mom's kitchen. Please let me know if anyone needs a ride.

Tuesday: Youth band will meet at 6:30pm in the sanctuary.

Wednesday: All youth (rising 7th graders through 12 graders) will meet in the youth area for pizza and games.

Thursday: Please be in prayer for the kids as they leave for camp on Thursday.

Saturday: We will probably need a few people in the concessions stand at North Pointe to help cover the sales of concessions to the families whose kids are playing ball in our gym. This is an effective and beautiful opportunity to reach out into the community.

Next Month: Our church will be hosting Taya Kyle (the widow of American Sniper Chris Kyle) for an event close to our fall program kickoffs.

If you have any questions about what is coming, please let me know.

Damien

Hey North Pointe Family!

So yesterday is a day you never want to experience. First time doing skits with the youth… Palm Sunday Service… lose ten pounds in 30 hours because of an unrelenting stomach bug. I missed dearly being able to see the youth carry on the skit they put on. I have heard from several people they did admirably. Thank you to everyone who helped!

This week is Holy Week!

Tuesday evening we will have youth band practice from 6:30pm to 8pm.

Wednesday evening we will have our student ministry gathered from 6pm to 8pm. If you can get them there at 6, we can get rolling with games. If they show up late, we love them and are ecstatic when they show up! This week, we will discuss what happened leading up to the cross.

Saturday: Eggstravaganza… see below

Sunday; EASTER!!!

For the Eggstravaganza, we need help all over the place. First of all, as many youth as are available are needed to help run games and “hide” eggs at the church and then at the apartments where the fun will continue. We are asking all volunteers to arrive at the church no later than 10am on Saturday so we can get crackin.

For Camp! I have a contribution schedule for the $300 it will take to send our students to camp. Signup goes live this week.

To sign up for camp, you will need to have a check written for $50 to North Pointe. Once we receive your funding to secure your spot, you will receive an email with instructions for signing up on the camp side to get all of the waivers that need signing.

The next $75 that would normally be due has been paid for each student by the church by way of the barbecue event!

The $75 following that will be due on 1 May.

The final $100 will be due on 1 June.

Please email, text, or call with any questions.
