What a fun evening at Trunk or Treat! 🎃🍬

A HUGE thank you to everyone who volunteered to decorate a trunk and help make the evening so special for the kiddos! We also want to give a special shoutout to our Hospitality Team, who helped direct traffic, kept an eye on everything happening around us, and jumped in wherever an extra set of hands was needed. And we can't forget our awesome youth, who helped keep trunks stocked with candy and made sure there was plenty of fun happening at the craft tables!

And to our families and neighbors, thank you for spending your Sunday evening at FUMC Hurst! We’re grateful for the trust you place in us to provide a safe, welcoming place for your kids to have fun and your families to make memories together. We love being part of this community and hope everyone felt right at home!

And here's a little something you might not know... 👀

If you happened to meet two Princess Donuts from Dungeon Crawler Carl, a mad scientist, Princess Peach, or someone in a fully sealed hazmat suit on Sunday evening, there's a pretty good chance you met one of our FIVE pastors! 😂

We promise, they're just as fun and welcoming on Sunday mornings! Their Sunday morning costumes are a little different, though (look for the robes!).

Good morning, church! ☀️

This morning, we’re beginning Hallowed, exploring how God meets us in the ordinary places, people, and moments of everyday life.

Moses wasn’t searching for a spiritual experience. He was simply tending sheep when he encountered God in the burning bush. What seemed like ordinary ground became holy ground. Just as God meets us through ordinary things like water and bread, we can learn to recognize God’s presence and grace in the everyday experiences of our own lives.

October is Clergy Appreciation Month, and we couldn't be more grateful for the wonderful pastors we have here at FUMC Hurst! 💛

Being a pastor means being invited into some of the most meaningful moments in people's lives, from the really joyful ones to the incredibly difficult ones. It's a calling that asks a lot of a person, and we're so thankful for the love and care our pastors bring to it every day.

Our pastors love this church and the people in it, and it shows. They care deeply about our community and the work we're doing together, and they give so much of themselves to help others feel loved, supported, and welcomed.

To our pastors, thank you for all the ways you lead, serve, and love so well. We hope you know what a difference you make and how grateful we are for each of you.

Happy Clergy Appreciation Month!

Yesterday, our clergy and staff were treated to a “Texas Tailgate”-themed barbecue lunch (b**r not included 😂), thanks to our wonderful United Women in Faith! 🤠

The food was great, but what made the afternoon especially meaningful were the heartfelt words of encouragement and appreciation shared by the United Women in Faith representatives pictured here. They took time to remind our clergy and staff that their work matters, that it is seen, and that they are loved and appreciated.

What a gift it is to be surrounded by people who care for and support one another so well. Thank you, United Women in Faith, for making our clergy and staff feel so loved and appreciated!

1,500 bags packed in just about an hour!

What a great afternoon together on Sunday! Kids, youth and adults all showed up for our second churchwide Backpack Ministry packing event. Many hands really do make light work, and it was so good to see so many generations serving alongside one another!

Because of this work, 1,500 bags of food are ready to go home with HEB ISD students for the weekends, getting us packed through the rest of the semester.

We are so grateful for our Backpack Ministry team and all the work they do behind the scenes to keep this ministry going. And thank you to every person who came out to pack bags and be part of caring for students and families in our community.

This is so much of why we gather in the first place. What we share on Sunday mornings is meant to shape how we love and care for our neighbors throughout the week.

We'll do it again in January, and there's always room for more helping hands!

Join us this morning as we wrap up our I Am Jonah series and spend a full day worshiping, celebrating, and serving together.

🌱Immediately following worship, we’ll gather in the Foyer to celebrate 15 years of the Village Garden and the many people who have helped this ministry grow and serve our community through the years.

🎒Then come back from 4–6 PM for our second church-wide Backpack Ministry packing event! Together, we’ll pack 1,500 weekend food bags for students in HEB ISD, enough to carry this ministry through the rest of the semester.

Fifteen years of growing, serving, and sharing with our community. 🌱

This Sunday, we’re celebrating the Village Garden and giving thanks for the many people who have faithfully planted, tended, harvested, organized, shared, and supported this ministry over the years. So much care has gone into helping the garden flourish, and its impact reaches far beyond what grows in the soil.

Join us at 11:30 AM in the Foyer as we celebrate 15 years, honor those who have helped bring us to this milestone, and look ahead with gratitude for the people who will continue this good work in the years to come.

All are welcome!

Sunday was just a good day!

We celebrated a baptism, welcomed new members, heard the Sunday School Superstars sing “Peace Like a River,” and cheered on a rock-paper-scissors battle between Pastor Johnny and our Youth Director, Jorden, during Children’s Time.

Fun, silly, meaningful, and a whole lot of beautiful moments together. (and trumpets!)

It’s a good time to be at First United Methodist Hurst. Join us!

It's starting to feel like fall 🍂around here! Well, at least in the mornings.🙃 We'll take what we can get!

We're continuing our I Am Jonah series this morning, exploring what this familiar story has to teach us about God's grace, even when it shows up in unexpected ways.
