✈️Paper airplane races are happening this Sunday from 10-10:30 a.m in the Fellowship Hall! All ages are invited.

We asked a few staff members to make a paper airplane in preparation. This is what we got. Safe to say, the competition is wide open. 👀🤣

Sunday gave us so much to continue to celebrate in the life of our church. 💜

On Bible Sunday, our kindergarteners and third graders received Bibles of their own, a milestone we love getting to share with them and their families. Tucked inside each Bible is a note from our pastors, written especially for these kids as they continue growing, asking questions, learning, and discovering God through the stories of our faith. What a gift it is to be a church that gets to walk alongside them as they grow.

We also celebrated Sandra Hill, Director of Hospitality, and Debby Barkey, Music Ministry Associate and accompanist, as they begin retirement. We are so grateful for the many ways their gifts, care, and faithful service have shaped the life of FUMC Hurst over the years.

And our Backpack Ministry welcomed some of its longtime volunteers into its newly expanded space, a space that will help this ministry continue providing weekend food for HEB ISD students throughout the school year.

Young people growing in faith. Gratitude for years of faithful service. More room to care for our neighbors.

There was a lot of life to celebrate on Sunday. It’s a good time to be at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. ⛪️

It’s been a great few weeks at FUMC Hurst! 💛

We were grateful to welcome our District Superintendent, Rev. Danny Tenney, who shared a wonderful word of encouragement with us in worship. We’ve celebrated new members joining our church family (with at least one very important stuffed friend along for the occasion 🧸), fully funded our Backpack Ministry, coming alongside HEB ISD students and families with weekend food support, and enjoyed plenty of the laughter, connection, and joy that make Sundays together so special.

There’s a lot to be grateful for around here. It’s a good time to be at First United Methodist Church Hurst!

🍂 Seasons of Faith: Women’s Bible Study & Retreat

Whatever season of life you find yourself in, God is there.

This fall, women from United Methodist churches across the Mid-Cities are invited to come together for Seasons of Faith, a Bible study and retreat exploring how we recognize God’s presence and faithfulness through every season of our lives.

Led by Rev. Anne-Marie Berg, Rev. Sarah Garza, and Rev. Faiana Prescott-Funaki, our journey begins with two Monday evening gatherings featuring a light meal, fellowship, Bible study, and meaningful conversation:

Martin UMC

📍 Monday, September 21 | 6–8 PM
FUMC Hurst

Then, we’ll gather for a full-day retreat:

📍 Saturday, September 26 | 9 AM–4 PM
FUMC Colleyville

The retreat will include worship, teaching, breakfast and lunch, two breakout sessions, time to connect, and plenty of fun along the way.

Maybe you’re in a season of joy and growth. Maybe it’s waiting and uncertainty, change, or a new beginning. Whatever your season, there is a place for you in this conversation.

Good morning, church! Today we’re beginning a new sermon series: What’s Next?

God has been faithful to FUMC Hurst for generations. We celebrate the lives changed, relationships built, and ministry accomplished, and we believe God is still leading us forward.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll explore where God may be leading us in this next season, the kind of church we are called to be, and the role each of us plays in helping people encounter God’s grace and grow as followers of Jesus.

Together, we’re listening for God’s voice and imagining what God might do through a congregation willing to say yes.
