A Christmas Prayer of Joy

Loving Father, clothed in majesty and righteousness, we praise and thank You for Your joy. This Christmas, while the anxieties of the world engulf us, it is only in you that we can find joy for our soul. You have declared us righteous, and the prospect of the righteous is joy. The joy we can know was embodied in Your Son, Christ Jesus, who was born to a virgin to provide joy that the world cannot take away. The first Adam brought happiness in life, but the second Adam from above brought joy in life everlasting. Hallelujah! Amen.

A Prayer for Christmas Eve

Loving Father, help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
