Reminder: Wednesday, January 17th 8:00, is the time register your child for Putnam County Pre-K !

The Putnam County Collaborative Pre-K Program will begin registration for their FREE 4-Year-Old Pre-K Program as follows:

Beginning January 17, 2024, parents/guardians may register their child by visiting the PCS website at www.putnamschools.com, selecting the “Menu” tab, “Parents,” “PreK,” and then clicking the “Sign-Up” button to begin the registration process by filling out the questionnaire. Please note that the registration link will not be available until 8 a.m. on January 17th.

Parents/guardians may call Putnam County Schools at (304)586-0500 ext. 1133, ext. 1178, or ext. 1122 for assistance if internet access is unavailable.

To be eligible, children must reside in Putnam County and turn four before July 1, 2024.

We had a very special guest today at C.O.M! The children were wonderful listening to Batman’s message and they had a great time getting pictures after. A huge shout out THANK YOU to Heroes 4 Higher for coming out and talking to our students. The message was awesome and very well received.

Job Description/Requirements:

Employee will have:
ACDS or WVIT training, or
Valid CDA Credential, or
A minimum of 9 hours of Early Childhood College Credit Hours or
An Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education
Pay is based on education and experience

Employee will be able to:
Proficiently design and carrying out lesson plans, engage and interact with children and assist them as they develop into their full potential
Evaluate children’s performance, while providing children with environmental opportunities to meet necessary milestones
Communicate with parents and update them on the progress of their children
Observe children’s interactions and assist in disputes as necessary
Be aware of behavioral difficulties and help to determine the best course of action to help alleviate the issues in a positive manner
Collaborate with other colleagues with respect and grace
Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by licensing sources
Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child’s experiences
Attend trainings and complete additional coursework in early childhood education, as required, or directed
Provide basic care, including diapering, and toilet training
Skills
Pass pre-employment screenings and drug tests

Employee will have:
ACDS, CDA or WVIT certification
Patience, flexibility, creativity and love for children
Ability to work collaboratively with others to create a fun, safe, and secure learning environment
At High School Diploma or equivalent
