Just because you’re wounded in battle don’t mean you’re not a warrior...
When you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place...The battles of life and storms are quite overwhelming and feel fierce. You may have the temptation to just jump off the cliff and give up on everything God has promised and declared to you. The enemy will beckon you to give up and forget your inheritances. But If you hide in the cleft of the Rock...
You have no other choice but to encounter His peace, His rest, His beauty, His power...You have nothing else touching you but His presence. The cleft of the Rock is your place to encounter Him. And all else fades away...Your cares, burdens, troubles and pain. In the cleft of the Rock you are safe. Jesus is the cleft of the Rock. It’s okay to be still. In the cleft of the Rock is where His glory in being made manifested in you and this is where the enemy can’t touch you. Jesus is your secret hiding place.
Exodus 33:21-22a
“Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with My hand...”
Psalms 32:7
“Thou art my hiding place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
Psalms 18:2
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Isaiah 25:4
“You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall.”
Psalms 91:1-2
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalms 46:10
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Here are these comforting and wise words from a very old hymn, “A Wonderful Savior Is Jesus My Lord” written in 1890 by a lady named F***y Crosby:
“A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord, a wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock, where rivers of pleasure I see.
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock that shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love and covers me there with His hand
And covers me there with His hand.”
God really spoke into my spirit today and said, “Either you’re gonna jump off this cliff and give up or you can choose to rest and spend time with me in the cleft of my Rock.”
I realize that my season of sickness and despair has been a great opportunity to get closer to Him. What the enemy used to try to discourage me and who even tried to destroy me...God will use to make His glory be made known. I will not let the enemy win. So I cling to the faith that I know and rest into the Rock Jesus, Who is my shelter during this seemingly long and raging stormy season. ~ A Modern Day Ruth, Jenny Williams, © 2018
