We are a vibrant congregation nestled atop Chapman mountain at the very edge of Northeast Huntsville. Epworth is welcoming and friendly congregation with a rich history of serving God and our community. We have a passion for creating and discipling the next generation of Christians, especially youth and children. Epworth is conveniently located to Northeast Huntsville, Chapman area, the Highway 72

corridor, Downtown Huntsville, 5 Points, Mt. Carmel, Gurley, Riverton, Chase Valley, Moore’s Mill Road, High Mountain, Ryland Pike, Monte Sano, Dug Hill Road, Lincoln Mills, Mastin Lake Rd, and Meridian St. At Epworth, you’ll find a traditional style worship, organ music that evokes a sense of reverence and beauty, an excellent choir, an engaging and lively children’s sermon, friendly people, and a relevant and creative sermon. Midway through worship, after the children’s sermon, kids ages 4 through 5th grade are invited to join us for Children’s Church, where children experience age appropriate activities to develop their faith. Feel free to come dressed as you are or dress up a bit – you’ll find our folks do both.

Yesterday we celebrated Pentecost, learned about how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament scriptures and came to bring freedom to the captive, poor, blind and oppressed. We also remembered John Wesley’s Aldersgate experience when his heart was “strangely warmed” and the Holy Spirit inspired him to continue his ministry.
Today, spend some time reflecting on this beautiful sonnet from poet Marcus Guite. Let these words guide you this week as we continue to seek out ways to show God’s love to others.

“Today we feel the wind beneath our wings
Today the hidden fountain flows and plays
Today the church draws breath at last and sings
As every flame becomes a Tongue of praise.
This is the feast of fire, air, and water
Poured out and breathed and kindled into earth.
The earth herself awakens to her maker
And is translated out of death to birth.

From a pile of 44,433 clothespins to over 1,200 packed bags! These will go to the UMCOR - United Methodist Committee On Relief warehouse in Decatur to be added to disaster relief buckets. I’m so proud of our Epworth UMC MDO, Preschool & Kindergarten for collecting so many clothespins and of our awesome congregation for showing up to get them all packed. Epworth rocks!
