Serve with gladness.

There is something special about gathering together in worship. As we come together for Annual Conference this weekend, may every conversation, prayer, and song bring glory to God and encourage one another in faith.

Psalm 100:2 says "Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing."

Scripture Sunday ๐Ÿ“–

In these verses from Hebrews, we are instructed by Paul to love one another and to show hospitality to strangers because in doing so, we may unknowingly welcome angels. We are also urged to remember those in prison and those who are suffering, not as distant concerns, but as part of our own body. Because in Christ, we are one. All our brothers and sisters are worthy of our compassion, our prayers, and our faithful remembrance. Who might God be calling you to welcome, remember, or pray for today; especially the unseen or forgotten?

๐Ÿ™ Lord, open our hearts to love as You love. Help us to welcome the stranger, remember the suffering and live as one body in Christ. Amen.

Not earned. Not deserved. Still given.
This Holy Week, remember the cross, Jesusโ€™ sacrifice made atonement for our sins.

Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 โ€“ do you remember that day?
by Rev. Mike Schafer, Connectional Operations Officer

Youโ€™re probably thinking, โ€œHow in the world could I possibly remember an Easter from six years ago?โ€ Let me jog your memory. It was one month into the COVID lockdown. Our world had stopped. Iโ€™ll never forget preaching to a sanctuary with only five or six people, just enough to help livestream our service.

And yet, that morning we boldly announced to the world that even in the worst of times, these words still stand true: he is not here; he has risen!

The very next day, those words would be my anchor. I received a call from a family member telling me my dad had sat down in his recliner that afternoon and taken his last breath. It was sudden and unexpected. It shook my world. But because Jesus was alive, I knew Dad was more alive than he had ever been.

No matter how broken our world seems today, it is still Easter. No matter how dark the news sounds, the tomb is still empty. He has risen! Let us hold fast to those words today. They are the anchor for our souls.

๐Ÿ™ Today on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, we join together across the world to pray for Christians who are persecuted for their faith.

Pray over these specific needs today:
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Ask God to protect the physical and spiritual safety of our Church family and to cover their practical needs and vocational training.
๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Ask for divine comfort, peace and hope for believers in their suffering, that they may stand strong in their faith and spread the Gospel with boldness.
๐Ÿค Pray that the global Church would awaken to the plight of its persecuted family, rise in fervent prayer, provide tangible support and advocate tirelessly for all who suffer for their faith.
๐ŸŒ Pray for our Global Methodist family across Africa and Asia who face the threat of discrimination, oppression and violence.
