False prophets are deceivers because they foretell things that don’t come to pass and seduce people away from God to follow devils or themselves. Some of them are empowered by devils to perform signs and wonders or miracles. Some of them are deceived by devils and others by their own heart. They speak in the name of God and other gods, which are devils. They live a life of greed, covetousness, and iniquity. And if they refuse to repent, they will perish. They will be judge and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever.
1 Timothy 6: 5-8 (KJV)
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1 Timothy 6: 9-10 (KJV)
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
False prophets are like people who believe gain is godliness or holiness. Who intends to be rich. And who loves and covets money.
They are like the prophet Balaam, who loved the wages of unrighteousness. (2 Peter 2:15-16, KJV).
And if they don’t repent, they will perish. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever.
