False prophets are deceivers because they foretell things that don’t come to pass and seduce people away from God to follow devils or themselves. Some of them are empowered by devils to perform signs and wonders or miracles. Some of them are deceived by devils and others by their own heart. They speak in the name of God and other gods, which are devils. They live a life of greed, covetousness, and iniquity. And if they refuse to repent, they will perish. They will be judge and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever.

1 Timothy 6: 5-8 (KJV)
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

1 Timothy 6: 9-10 (KJV)
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

False prophets are like people who believe gain is godliness or holiness. Who intends to be rich. And who loves and covets money.

They are like the prophet Balaam, who loved the wages of unrighteousness. (2 Peter 2:15-16, KJV).

And if they don’t repent, they will perish. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever.

Acts 20: 28-31 (KJV)
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

False prophets are described as beasts of prey. (Matthew 7:15; 2 Peter 2:12; Jude 1:10, KJV).

Like predatory animals that prey on other animals for food, false prophets prey on people for profit.

And they seduce people away from God to follow devils or themselves.

Acts 8: 9-11 (KJV)
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: 10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. 11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

Acts 13: 6-7 (KJV)
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

Acts 13: 8-11 (KJV)
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. 10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

Acts 13: 12 (KJV)
12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

False prophets are deceivers.

Some of them are empowered by devils to perform signs and wonders or miracles.

They are like the wise men, sorcerers, and magicians of Egypt who turned rods into serpents, water into blood, and caused frogs to come upon the land of Egypt. (Exodus 7:8-12, 19-22; 8:5-7, KJV).

And they seduce people away from God to follow devils or themselves.

Matthew 24: 1-3 (KJV)
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Matthew 24: 11 (KJV)
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Matthew 24: 24 (KJV)
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Mark 13: 22 (KJV)
22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Matthew 7: 15 (KJV)
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Matthew 7: 16-19 (KJV)
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matthew 7: 20 (KJV)
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

They are like the prophet Balaam, who was hired to curse the children of Israel. (Deuteronomy 23:3-5, KJV). Who loved the wages of unrighteousness (2 Peter 2:15-16, KJV), was greedy for reward (Jude 1:11, KJV), and taught Balak how to seduce the children of Israel to eat things sacrificed to idols and commit fornication (Numbers 25:1-9; 31:16; Revelation 2:14, KJV).

And if they refuse to repent, they will perish. (Luke 13:1-5, KJV). They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever. (1 John 4:1-3; Revelation 19:20; 20:10, KJV).

Ezekiel 22: 17-20 (KJV)
17 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver. 19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20 As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

Ezekiel 22: 25 (KJV)
25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

Ezekiel 22: 26-27 (KJV)
26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

Ezekiel 22: 28 (KJV)
28 And her prophets have daubed them with untampered morter, seeing vanity and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hasth not spoken.

False prophets speak in the name of God.

They are described as beasts of prey. (Matthew 7:15; Acts 20:29; 2 Peter 2:12; Jude 1:10, KJV).

Like predatory animals that prey on other animals for food, false prophets prey on people for profit.

They seek people’s treasure and precious things, or wealth, substance, possessions, and livelihood.

One false prophet prophesies a lie, and others strengthen the lie in the name of God for profit.

Ezekiel 14: 9-10 (KJV)
9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

If a prophet of God is deceived, and foretells something that does not come to pass.

God allows him to be deceived, because he is living a life of iniquity.

God allows him to be deceived so that he might repent and not perish.

Ezekiel 13: 17-19 (KJV)
17 Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? 19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?

Ezekiel 13: 20-21 (KJV)
20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

Ezekiel 13: 22-23 (KJV)
22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: 23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

False prophetesses are deceivers.

They speak in the name of God.

They foretell things that don’t come to pass, because they have been deceived by devils or the visons of their own heart.

Some of them use pillows and veils to lure people to themselves and take them captive for profit.

All of them are like Jezebel. (Revelation 2:18-23, KJV). They live a life of iniquity, discourage the righteous, and strengthen the wicked to keep them from turning away from their wickedness.

And if they don’t repent, they will perish. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever.

Because we love God with all our heart and soul, he delivers us from false prophetesses.

Ezekiel 13: 4-6 (KJV)
4 O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. 5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord. 6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.

Ezekiel 13: 7-9 (KJV)
7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; albeit I have not spoken? 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord God. 9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord God.

Jeremiah 29: 1 (KV)
1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

Jeremiah 29: 8-9 (KV)
8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. 9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.

Jeremiah 29: 20-23 (KV)
20 Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon: 21 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes; 22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire; 23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the Lord.

False prophets speak in the name of God.

Some of them foretell things that don’t come to pass, because they have been deceived by the dreams of their own heart.
