The Five Signs Before the Return of Christ: The Day of the Son of Man Part II

The day of the son of man is the time that Jesus Christ will return to the earth suddenly like a thief in the night in the resurrection of eternal life and the battle of Armageddon to judge everyone according to their works. It is the time of the marriage and marriage supper of the Lamb, the thousand-year reign of Christ over the earth, the resurrection of eternal life and damnation, and the final judgment of God.

2 Peter 2: 4-9 (KJV)
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 And turning the cities of S***m and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds; 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Some of the angels that were cast into hell, and all the souls of people that descended into hell are being kept in hell described as the bottomless pit (Revelation 20:1-3, KJV) in lowest parts of the earth (Ezekiel 31:16, KJV) until their final judgment.

At their final judgment they will be judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10-15, KJV).

3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

God has appointed Jesus Christ to judge all people. Both those who are alive, and those that have died. (Acts 10:42; 2 Timothy 4:1, KJV).

Hebrews 1: 10-12 (KJV)
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: 11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; 12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

God created the heavens and earth (Genesis 1:6-19; 2:1-4; Isaiah 44:24; 45:18, KJV).

He established them forever (Psalm 78:69; 89:35-37; 104:5; 148:1-6; Ecclesiastes 1:4, KJV). They will never be destroyed.

All ungodly people and things will perish from them like in the days of Noah and Lot, but they will remain forever.

And God will change them from a place of sin, sorrow, and death (Genesis 3:14-19, KJV) to a place of righteousness, peace, and joy forever (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-5, KJV).

2 Thessalonians 2: 3-5 (KJV)
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

2 Thessalonians 2: 6-8 (KJV)
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Jesus Christ will return to the earth with his angels in resurrection of eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Revelation 20:6, KJV). And he will send his angels to gather his elect from the earth into heaven (Matthew 24:30-31; Mark 13:26-27, KJV).

Before his return some people will fall away from their faith in him and God. Iniquity will increase in the earth. The antichrist describes as the man of sin, son of perdition, and wicked one will exalt himself above God and desecrated the third Jewish temple, described as the temple of God.

When Jesus returns, he will destroy the antichrist. He will cast him alive into perdition, which is the lake of fire and brimstone, where he will live in torment forever. (Revelation 19:19-20; 20:10, KJV).

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1: 6-8 (KJV)
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Thessalonians 1: 9-10 (KJV)
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

When Jesus returns with his angels to the earth, the wicked will be destroyed from off the earth.

Many of the wicked will be taken (Matthew 24:27-28: Luke 17:34-37, KJV) by his angels to a place located outside the city of Jerusalem, where eagles will gather to eat the carcasses, or dead bodies of those that have sinned against God (Isaiah 66:20-24, KJV).

They will be killed by angels of Christ (Revelation 14:14-20, KJV). Their bodies will die (Genesis 3:17-19; Job 34:14-15; James 2:26, KJV) their spirits which is the breath of life will return to God (Genesis 2:7; Job 27:3; 33:4; 34:14-15; Ecclesiastes 12:7; Luke 23:44-46, KJV) and their souls will descend into hell (Psalm 16:10, KJV) described as the bottomless pit (Revelation 20:1-3, KJV) in the lowest parts of the earth (Ezekiel 31:16, KJV) to the place of torment for the wicked (Luke 16:19-28, KJV).

After the thousand-year reign of Christ (Revelation 20:6, KJV), they will be raised from the dead in the resurrection of eternal life and damnation. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever (Daniel 12:2; John 5:22-23, 28-29; Acts 24:15; Revelation 20:11-15, KJV).

The rest of the wicked will be judged and cast alive into the lake of fire and brimstone, where they will live in torment forever. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 14:9-11; 19:20; 20:10, KJV).

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

1 Thessalonians 5: 4-9 (KJV)
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Jesus will return to the earth suddenly like a thief in the night to judge everyone according to their works (Matthew 16:27; Revelation 22:12-13, KJV).

Therefore, let us continue to watch for the signs of his return. So, the day of his return does not come upon us unaware.

And let us continue to live a life of righteousness, faith, love, and hope. Because God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15: 50-54 (KJV)
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Philippians 3: 20-21 (KJV)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 (KJV)
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Jesus will return to the earth in the resurrection of eternal life with all the souls of the saints of God that have fallen asleep, or died (Thessalonians 4:13-14, KJV).

He will resurrect and change their bodies into the likeness of his body, complete the change of their souls into the likeness of his soul, and return their souls to their bodies.

Then he will change the bodies of the saints, described as the elect of Christ, who will be alive on the earth into the likeness of his body, and complete the change of their souls into the likeness of his soul. (2 Corinthians 3:18; 4:16; Philippians 1:6; 2 Peter 1:4; 1 John 3:1-3, KJV).

Then all the saints, who take part in the resurrection of eternal life, will be caught up together in the clouds to meet Christ in the air, and to be with him forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:17, KJV).

For those who take part in the resurrection of eternal life death will be swallowed up in victory.

1 Corinthians 15: 24-28 (KJV)
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Jesus will reign over the kingdom of God and the kingdoms of the world that will exist during his thousand-year reign over the earth. (Daniel 7:13-14; Revelation 11:15-17; 20:4-6, KJV).

After his thousand-year reign, and all worldly kingdoms and death are destroyed, Jesus will return the kingdom of God back to his Father, submit himself to his Father, and God will reign over all his servants forever. (Revelation 19:6; 22:1-5, KJV).

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

There are three primary resurrections of the dead. The first is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The second is the resurrection of eternal life (Revelation 20:6, KJV), which will occur when Jesus returns to the earth. And the third is the resurrection of eternal life and damnation, which will occur at the final judgment of God (Revelation 20:11-15, KJV).

God will judge the world in righteousness (Psalm 9:7-8; Ecclesiastes 3:16-17; 12:13-14, KJV) by Jesus Christ (John 5:22-23; Acts 17:31, KJV) at his final judgment (Daniel 7:9-10; Revelation 20:11-15, KJV).
