The Christ Community Church was birthed out of a long struggle and wrestle with the Lord by Pastor Dr. Earl C. Although Dr. Johnson was convinced of God’s plan for the new church, he needed the Lord to bring his wife Linda onboard with him. After much prayer and seeking God’s direction, Linda fully embraced God’s plan for them to plant a new church. Believing that God was calling the entire family
into church planting, Dr. Johnson and Linda sat down and talked to their children (Christopher and Brittani) to make sure that they understood where the family was headed. After having the family fully onboard with planting the new church, several members from Pastor’s former church approached him and expressed the fact that they too felt the call of God and the unction of the Holy Spirit to be a part of the new church plant. On January 17, 2008, Dr. Johnson and his family along with several persons from the former church gathered at his home. On that night, the church was established with Dr. Johnson as founder and Pastor. The name Christ community Church was given to Pastor Dr. Johnson as he was driving down Mastin Lake Road in Huntsville, AL and this name was carried around in his pocket for many years. Thereby, the name of Christ Community Church was received and documented as the official name for the church. On Sunday January 20, 2008, Christ Community Church held it’s first worship service at Slyer Tabernacle on Oakwood Road in Huntsville, AL? With meager resources and a handful of members, the Holy Spirit lit a fire that cannot be put out. In February 2008, Christ Community Church requested affiliation with the Madison Baptist Association and the Alabama Baptist Convention. Later in that year, Christ Community Church was placed under watch care by the association. In November of 2009, the church became a full member of the Alabama State Board of Mission. In June of 2008, the Lord led Pastor Johnson to a spot of land, in which to build the church. With the help of the Lord and Citizen Bank of Hazel Green, AL, Christ Community Church purchased 3.5 acres of land on Johns Road in the city of Huntsville, AL. The Holy Spirit seeing the needs of Christ Community Church sent Pleasant Springs Baptist Church, and they provided a temporary stable for worship. In November 2009, architect Allen B. Smith completed the design for Christ Community Church first phase of the new facility. The completion of this building was scheduled for spring of 2011. However, the funding is being raised for the new building. In June of 2010, Christ Community Church was able to move into a 3,000 square foot temporary facility on their site on John’s Road. This facility has been provided as a loan to Christ Community Church by the Alabama State Board of Mission. Under the leadership of Dr. Johnson, Christ Community Church has a spirit of compassion and outreach.
