In this week's video, we meet Jonas, who emphasizes the importance of solidarity during Haiti's continued challenges. Even with little of their own, the children of ISCB still find ways to give to their fellow students. What a wonderful lesson to us all!

In this week's video, 13 year old Wendy Lauren shares with us the experience of witnessing gang violence in Port-au-Prince, which eventually led to the safety of St. Charles Borromeo School. We're so thankful for these positive stories in the midst of Haiti's ongoing turmoil.

In this video, Delva Monica shares with us how she had a most harrowing encounter with the gangs and had to flee the city. Fortunately, she is now a student at St. Charles Borromeo school, which is in the mountains away from the crime and unrest.

In this video we hear from John Castro Joseph who is one of the Palmiste au Vin University students that the Holy Spirit Haiti Mission sponsored. He has now graduated and is teaching at the school. He speaks of the challenges that students face in Haiti just to be able to study.

The Holy Spirit Haiti Mission will be sharing a series of video posts over the next few weeks to show what daily life in Haiti is like currently and give you updates on the projects we support.
The St. Charles Borromeo School has asked some of their students to tell their story. This video is about Veliane Joseph who has started a small business to help pay for her school expenses.
Please feel free to share these videos and visit www.holyspirithaitimission.org to learn more about our projects.

The Vocational Technical Carpentry school in Haiti teaches students valuable carpentry skills so that they can support themselves and their community after graduation. Your generosity a year ago firmly established the beginning of this school, and it has gone well since. Now, the students must be able to build furniture and other salable items to sustain the future of the VoTech school. The highest priority items that the school needs are a table saw, a drill press, and a planer. We recognize that these tools are very expensive, but they are critical to the Phase II activities of the school. If you would like to help, please prioritize making monetary donations to the VoTech Carpentry Fund so that we can purchase these 3 items. This can be found on the Donate and Get Involved page of www.holyspirithaitimission .org However, if you are doing some Amazon shopping and want to donate a specific item from our full wishlist, you can see that here www.tinyurl.com/haititools All contributions are greatly appreciated.
Also any donation over $25 will receive a Holy Spirit Haiti Mission Christmas tree ornament! Please email hshaitimission@ gmail.com after you purchase a tool or make a donation so that we can send you your ornament to show you our appreciation! Thank you!

While you are online Christmas shopping, please consider helping out the Haiti Mission! The Votech Carpentry School students will begin their second year of training soon! This coming year they will begin working with power tools so we need to send down these required tools. They will be housed in a new classroom that is being built for students to use year after year. This valuable schooling will allow students to graduate with a trade degree and support themselves and their community. Please consider purchasing tools from our Amazon wishlist: https://tinyurl.com/haititools
Donations of any amount can also be made on our website holyspirithaitimission .org under Votech Carpentry School Tools Fund.

Update on the Earthquake Relief Project:

We were able to raise funds from a few very generous donors in order to build three additional homes for those who lost everything in the recent earthquake in Haiti. Brother Arié immediately began planning for the next houses to be built, especially since it was in the middle of the rainy season and people were living out in the elements. It was very difficult to determine which families would receive a home since there were so many who lost their houses to the earthquake. Families who are most vulnerable with single parents, many children, or people with disabilities were prioritized. There were a number of challenges that had to be overcome to build the houses including unrest in the country which delayed getting funds from the bank as well as massive price inflation for the materials needed to build the houses. Despite these setbacks, Brother Arié and his team were able to begin construction. We were thrilled to receive pictures of the completed houses and the families that will be living in them now. Each beneficiary expressed their immense gratitude for being able to sleep with a roof over their heads, especially with the rainy season approaching again.

There are many more who are still without housing and we hope to eventually find a way to help them as well. Brother Arié has already identified a pregnant mother with four young children as the next to receive a house if the funds are raised. The Holy Spirit Haiti Mission hopes to help Arié’s team build as many houses as possible to allow the Haitians who were left on the streets to have one of the most basic necessities. Please consider donating to this project on our website at www.holyspirithaitimission.org. Each house provides permanent housing to about 10 people. The cost is $4,000 per house, but any amount will help us to provide for this cause. Thank you to all those who have supported this project!
