This Friday, April 17, we will observe Yom HaShoah during our Shabbat services.

As a Jewish community, we come together to honor those who were lost to the Shoah, to remember the vibrant lives and communities that were destroyed, and to affirm our responsibility to remember, to teach, and to live as Jews in their memory.

May their memories be a blessing.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and special recognition to two incredible members of our congregation who worked tirelessly to organize and run this yearโ€™s Passover event.

Because of your dedication, planning, and countless hours of behind-the-scenes work, our community was able to come together to celebrate Passover in a meaningful and joyful way. From coordinating the details to welcoming everyone with warmth, your efforts truly made the evening special for all who attended.

Your leadership and commitment to our synagogue community do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything you did to make this event such a success.

Please join us in thanking Dawn Priebe and Michelle Bruman for their outstanding work and generosity of spirit.

๐Ÿ’™ We are so fortunate to have you as part of our congregational family!

As we approach Passover, Iโ€™ve been reflecting on how this holiday has felt different in recent years. Our community, like the Jewish people across generations, has faced modern-day challenges that test us and unsettle us.

The Haggadah reminds us that โ€œin every generation a new enemy rises up to destroy us.โ€ Lately, that teaching has felt all too real. Mitzrayim, the Hebrew word for Egypt, means โ€œnarrow places.โ€ And sometimes, the world feels narrowโ€”constricted by fear, uncertainty, and division. Yet even in these narrow places, there can be openings.

Passover reminds us of those openings. The parting of the Sea of Reeds was not only a miracleโ€”it was a path toward freedom, hope, and a future yet to be shaped. As individuals and as a community, we find openings through connection, belonging, and showing up for one another.

This evening, as we gather around our seder tables, we remember that we are not alone on our journeys. We sit with family, friends, and community, sharing a story that embodies the resilience, strength, and courage of the Jewish peopleโ€”a story that sustains us across generations.

May this season bring comfort, renew our sense of connection, and remind us that hope is something we create together.

Wishing you and your loved ones a meaningful Passover,

Rabbi PJ Schwartz
