Douglas Tabernacle

Douglas Tabernacle Brief History of the Douglas Tabernacle P.B. It had a humble, yet, inspiring beginning. Elder Douglas said “God laid it on my heart to build a church”. Rev. Bro. C.

Church “ A Church Striving to Be Better Stewards for Christ” In 1941, the late Elder Anderson (Big A) Douglas founded the church in Huntsville, Alabama. Space was rented in an old garage on University Drive once called a “Pigeon House”. Jackson Holman of St. Bartley P.B. Church preached the first sermon in the old garage. Tom Alexander suggested that the church be named “Douglas Tabernacle” a

fter the founder, Elder Anderson Douglas. Dr. Brooks gave the first $100.00 toward the building of the church. Two lots was purchased (this site) for $275.00 and the church was organized on a pile of lumber out front. In 1942, they built a frame church that seated 126 people. The congregation soon grew and another building was needed. A second building was constructed-a 2,700 square foot blockhouse with a seating capacity of 125-200. In 1991, following the leadership of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Rogers and the church again stepped out on faith. The congregation sold bonds and contributed from the church’s account to construct a new sanctuary. The new sanctuary was completed in 1992, which seats approximately 350 people. The congregation purchased several lots near the church, believing that God will continue to bless them physically and spiritually. In early 1998, the Holy Spirit led Pastor Rogers to form a committee to renovate the fellowship hall. The church agreed to rebuild the fellowship hall. After months of hard work and prayer the building was completed one day before the 128th Annual Session was to begin. God is still an On-time-God!!!! The Anderson Douglas Fellowship Hall was dedicated to the Lord on the 5th Sunday in November (29) 1998. November 27, 2005, the church held a Mortgage Burning Ceremony. In 2009, the Douglas Tabernacle sanctuary and Fellowship Hall was renovated. “To God Be the Glory for the Things He Has Done”. The beautification project was completed and January 17, 2010, we celebrated with a dedication service. Since 1942, the Lord and Savior has seen fit to call some from labor to reward. Douglas Tabernacle have had only three Pastors: The late Anderson Douglas, from 1941 to 1976; the late A. Mastin from 1976 to 1989; and its present Pastor, Robert L. Rogers, Sr. who came to Douglas Tabernacle in 1988 and has been serving as Pastor since 1989.

"How to Be Somebody"-
Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV)
New King James Version

https://youtu.be/GQGM4jfeIsE?si=jvyR9NZmYebWEYJs

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [b]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [c]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the [b]nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,

Elder Dr. Mario Ford
Mark 9:2-9 New King James Version
"While We Are Waiting"

2 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— 6 because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid.

7 And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” 8 Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves.

9 Now as they came down from the mountain, He commanded them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, till the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

"Taking A Stand"-
Daniel 3:23-28
New King James Version

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his [a]counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?”

They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”

25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the[b] Son of God.”

26 Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the [c]mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. 27 And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

28 Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel[d] and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!
