Closer to Sweet Home Alabama, our Madison Baptists changed out of our Mudout clothes into our Chainsaw chaps for a hot but rewarding day in the field yesterday. A job on “our books” we were finally able to complete thanks to James, Garrett, Schuyler, Robert, Al, Jr and Jack. Satisfying TEAM effort!

In leading off as the first Cleanup and Recovery (Mudout) Team from Alabama Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (ALSBDR) to hit the ground in Anderson, IN last week, our Madison/Limestone combined Team of 8 worked hard to set the bar high for our follow-on Alabama Disaster Relief Volunteers. Our 4-day work efforts accounted for 9 Salvations registered during our stay and 1 additional as one of our crew stayed over for an extra day—TOTAL = 10. We completed cleanup and recovery assignments for 6 homes/families—5 interior cutout/removal of water-damaged walls, flooring, insulation and destroyed appliances; and on our final day, emptying the full complements of a basement that had been flooded to the ceiling, soaking and destroying everything in the still-wet/water-standing basement. Hard work. Smelly work. Sweaty work. Tired bones at the end of each day. However, each day we were sent off after a hot, tasty breakfast and upon return enjoyed hot showers and equally tasty dinner meals—all at the hands of dedicated and outstanding feeding and shower/laundry teams. Can’t finish up without recognizing the outstanding leadership and administration that made it so easy for we field-workers to do our jobs. Still scheduled from Madison Association over the coming weeks are Volunteers doing feeding and admin assignments on-site. Thank you to Kingston Avenue Baptist Church in Anderson for allowing us to “camp out” in their facilities for the time all will be serving flood victims. Bottom Line: GREAT ALABAMA TEAM EFFORT in Anderson, IN with more to follow as additional Alabama Teams take hold of the reins in the weeks ahead.

A combined Team from Madison and Limestone Associations traveled to Anderson, IN this past week to assist with post-flood cleanup and deliver the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST through our MINISTRY of Disaster Relief. Through our direct efforts nine residents were led to and accepted Jesus as their Savior. PTL

On the road again… In response to Indiana’s request to Alabama Southern Baptist Disaster Relief for assistance in recovery from the recent and ongoing flooding across the Hoosier State, our Madison Baptist Disaster Relief Volunteers will be joining the first responding elements. Admin, Feeding and Chaplain Volunteers will be departing tomorrow, heading to Anderson, IN to join in the setup of our Alabama Incident Management Center (IMC). This IMC will over the weeks ahead be the hub of operations, taking flood victim requests for assistance and managing work flow to best meet the needs. Our Madison Cleanup and Recovery Team, supplemented with Volunteers from our neighboring Limestone Association, will deploy this Thursday through next Tuesday. However, over the weeks ahead numerous other Volunteer teams from across Alabama will be housed and fed at the IMC as they contribute to cleanup and recovery efforts. Pray for the Indiana residents that have been so disastrously affected. Pray for the safety of all our Alabama Volunteers as they travel and serve. Pray that God will lead us in delivering the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST through our MINISTRY of Disaster Relief.

“Ramp Business” is “on the incline”. After recently answering a call to disassemble a handicap ramp we had built that was no longer needed, we received a call earlier this week expressing a need for an emergency ramp. So today in quick response we were able to “re-purpose” on-hand materials to meet the immediate need. The end product is not necessarily “purdy” but she be “sturdy”—constructed and received in love ❤️! THANK YOU Madison Baptist Volunteers!

Just can’t get enough of a good thing—delivering the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST through the MINISTRY of Disaster Relief. Yesterday was just a warmup for today—helping cleanup after the New Market tornadoes spinning their destruction at the end of last month. Robust Vounteer Team of thirteen braved the Alabama heat complemened by today’s intermittent rain showers and resulting high humidity to serve our community well. Super team effort 👍😊!
