⛪ Celebrating New Ministry in the Diocese of Texas!

This past Sunday, our Campus Missioner, the Rev. G.A. Whitehead and the Very Rev. Blake Rider, was away from our regular ESC Eucharist for a very joyful reason: attending the Celebration of New Ministry and installation of the Rev. Christine Mendoza as Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church.

It was a beautiful, joy-filled, and deeply spiritual celebration as clergy, parishioners, friends, and members of the wider Church gathered to mark this new chapter in the life of Trinity.

Bishop Jeff Fisher of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas presided, and the Rev. Gavin Tomlin, Associate Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco, was the guest preacher. It was especially wonderful to see so many clergy and members of the Diocese gathered together in prayer, fellowship, and support of this new ministry.

The Episcopal Student Center joins our friends at Trinity in giving thanks for the Rev. Christine Mendoza, praying that God will richly bless her ministry and the people of Trinity as they grow together in Christ.

One of the gifts of being part of The Episcopal Church is remembering that our ministry at the ESC is connected to a much larger family of faith. When one community celebrates a new beginning, we all have reason to rejoice.

Congratulations, Mother Christine and Trinity Episcopal Church! May this new season be filled with hope, faith, joy, and faithful ministry. 🙏

What a wonderful start to the semester at the Episcopal Student Center! 🙏

Tonight we celebrated our first ESC Eucharist of the semester, and we were especially glad to welcome some new faces into our community.

Fr. Blake Rider presided at the Eucharist, and Rev. G.A. Whitehead preached. After worship, we gathered around the table again, this time for Chipotle, laughter, and some great conversations.

We are grateful for everyone who joined us and excited to see how God continues to shape this community throughout the semester.

There is always a place for you at the ESC. ❤️

We had a great time at our Vestry Retreat this weekend! In our time at Camp Allen in Navasota, we were able to get to know each other better, plan for the semester ahead, and to rest in God and nature so that we can put our ideas into action for God's glory.

Our first Bible Study is on Wednesday at 5:30pm! We look forward to seeing you.

We had a great time feeding and greeting students new and old alike, as well as members of our local church parish St. Stephen's (who graciously helped us serve) !

There will be another welcome cookout tomorrow starting at 11am. If you missed us today, or if you just want some free food and a place to hang, feel free to come by!

Thanks to the volunteers from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and the Vestry of the ESC for helping out at the new student welcome event at the ESC!
