Emmanuel Church Celebrate Recovery

Emmanuel Church Celebrate Recovery Celebrate Recovery is designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, hang-ups, and habits What is Celebrate Recovery? So why are they there?

Our society is becoming more and more complex. Kids now have three sets of grandparents. Sexual addiction for men and women is growing at an exponential rate. Divorce is at an all-time high for Christians. Celebrate Recovery is designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, hang-ups, and habits by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process. The Celebrate R

ecovery program involves eight principles from the beatitudes of the New Testament, and twelve biblical steps of recovery. This program is distinctly Christian, uncompromisingly biblical, and proven to work within the church. It has clearly brought people together to discover a new level of care, acceptance, trust, and grace. And, for those who seek to mature spiritually, make better decisions that will help them become Christ-like in character. Celebrate Recovery is now in over 19,000+ churches worldwide! In Celebrate Recovery groups across the world, only one in three who participate in Celebrate Recovery are there for drugs and alcohol. They want to celebrate their recovery from any kind of addictions — overeating, stress, worrying, s*x, obsessive compulsiveness, anger, depression, and a multitude of life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Be a part of this proven program that takes a Biblical approach to overcoming addiction. "Welcome to the 'Road to Recovery.' You are in for an exciting and amazing journey as you take the hand of the true and only Higher Power, Jesus Christ, and walk with Him toward healing and serenity." Progress Over Perfection

One of the quickest ways to lose momentum is to believe that growth has to be perfect.

Missed a meeting?
Forgot to use a coping skill?
Had a rough day?

That doesn’t erase the progress you’ve already made.

Recovery isn’t built on perfection.
It’s built on persistence.

Every time you begin again, you’re strengthening a healthy habit.

A setback isn’t the end of your journey.
It’s simply part of the process.

✨ Try this today:
Notice one area where you’ve been focusing on perfection instead of progress.
Then celebrate one thing you’ve done well.

💬 Let’s talk:
What is one area where you’re learning to choose progress over perfection?

YOUR MIND

Romans 12:2: "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Some view the "renewing of the mind" as a supernatural recreation of what sin has corrupted, while others see it as a strategy for leading the abundant life Jesus promised.

This year, we have all faced unchanging circumstances that make us feel stuck. We know God’s promises, yet our medical reports and bank accounts tell a different story. However, Scripture reminds us that "the things we see are temporary, but the things we cannot see are eternal."

Don’t be discouraged by what you see; it’s not permanent. Your child may be off course, but that can change. Your health may seem poor, but it’s temporary. Your dreams might feel impossible, but they can still happen. Shift your perspective from permanence to possibility: “It may look this way, but I know it can change.” Trust in what you know—God is in control and will fulfill His promises.

Consider a caterpillar watching a butterfly fly. It may think, "Why can't I fly? I’m stuck here forever." But within its DNA lies the potential for wings. Though it struggles for a third of its life in chrysalis, that struggle is temporary. Eventually, it will emerge as a butterfly soaring through the sky. In fact, during its transformation, the caterpillar’s body completely breaks down before it reforms into a butterfly. This process of metamorphosis is a powerful reminder that change often comes with profound inner transformation, and the struggle has a purpose. This transformation is the same word used in Romans 12:2.

Your life may echo the caterpillar's doubts: “You’ll never fly; you lack experience.” But prepare yourself, your wings are coming. You were made to soar, not to crawl through life in loneliness or struggle. Your current situation isn’t permanent. Stop letting your circumstances discourage you, they’re temporary. God is working behind the scenes.

Worth wounds - those hurtful words/actions done by others that damage us to the core. We internalize these worth wounds, and they become a part of us.

But are they true? And more importantly - are they even accurate? They very likely were based on another’s faulty assessment and on their biases, not God’s true assessment of ourselves.

In Recovery, by going through Step Study and digging deep, we challenge these worth wounds and expose them to the light - to God’s truth.

We set our minds to refute them, and if they indeed had any truth to them, we could change our behavior, so they no longer are a part of us. We shed these worth wounds like taking off a garment of toxicity and leave it behind in the dust as we go forward to find our true selves in God.

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

The Gift of Healing in a Healthy Community

Healing often begins in the quiet moments when we finally stop hiding our pain and allow ourselves to be seen by people who love us with the compassion of Christ. God never intended for us to walk through brokenness alone. A healthy, faith-filled community becomes a sacred place where wounded hearts can breathe again, where tears are not judged, and where burdens are gently shared instead of silently carried. In the presence of caring believers, shame begins to lose its grip, fear begins to soften and hope slowly rises again. Sometimes God heals us not only through miracles, but through a listening ear, a praying friend, a comforting embrace, or someone simply sitting beside us in our darkest hour. A healthy community reflects the heart of Jesus—full of grace, patience, truth, and unconditional love—and through those relationships, God reminds us that we are never abandoned in our suffering.

The gift of healing in a healthy community is deeply spiritual because it allows us to experience the love of God in human form. When people pray for one another, encourage one another, and carry each other through seasons of weakness, the Holy Spirit moves powerfully among them. Broken people begin finding strength again, lonely hearts find belonging, and those who once felt beyond repair begin to believe that restoration is possible. Healing is not always instant, but in a loving community, God walks with us step by step, turning wounds into testimonies and pain into purpose. There is something holy about being surrounded by people who remind you that your life still matters, that your story is not over, and that God’s grace is bigger than the hurt you carry. In those moments, healing becomes more than recovery—it becomes a beautiful reminder that God’s love still reaches every broken place within us.

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 KJV
