Shame has no place here.
In Christ, guilt and shame no longer define us. Jesus already carried it all to the cross.

Your past is not who you are. The sins that wounded you, whether choices you made or harm done against you, don’t get the final say. For many of us, those wounds led to unhealthy coping, walls around our hearts, and even shutting God out.

Addiction, abuse, eating disorders, trauma, neglect, and violence may leave marks on our memories, but they don’t have to rule our souls. Through Christ, we can walk through the pain, uncover lies we believed about ourselves, and find freedom in forgiveness - both given and received.

This is the beauty of the cross: By His sacrifice and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, we are no longer defined by what was done to us or what we’ve done. We are rooted in God’s love and grace, becoming who He always created us to be.

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend … the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.” – Ephesians 3:17–19

It’s time to let go of the toxic things that keep you bound and step fully into the freedom Jesus already won for you.

Abusers often leave behind a trail of broken trust and wounded hearts. Their concern is rarely the hurt they cause, it’s protecting their image, keeping control, and making sure the truth doesn’t get exposed.

But Scripture reminds us:

“For everything hidden will be disclosed, and everything concealed will be brought to light.”
Luke 8:17

God sees what others try to cover up. Even when manipulation, deceit, and self-protection seem to prevail for a season, the Lord is faithful to reveal truth and bring justice in His time.

If you’ve been wounded by someone more concerned with appearances than with repentance, take heart:

Your pain is not invisible to God. He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18)

Your worth is not defined by their treatment. You are God’s beloved child, created in His image.

Your healing is found in Christ. He binds up wounds and restores what was lost.

Friend, you don’t have to carry the burden of their choices or live under the shadow of their control. Healing and freedom are possible in Jesus.

If you are walking through this kind of pain, we would love to walk alongside you. Link in bio.

WHY?

It may be one of the hardest questions we ever bring before God.

Why did this happen?
Why didn’t You answer the way I prayed?
Why did they have to die?
Why did the relationship fall apart?
Why the betrayal, the financial hardship, the family heartache?
Why, when I have tried to walk faithfully with You, did You allow this?

Scripture itself leaves us with questions.

Why did God miraculously deliver Peter from prison, yet allow James to be killed by Herod?

We aren’t always given the why.

God tells us:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
— Isaiah 55:8–9

There are things this side of heaven we simply may never understand.

I have always loved the wisdom Pastor Chuck Smith shared: when we don’t know, we have to fall back on what we do know.

And what do we know?

We know God is sovereign.
We know He is good.
We know He is still on the throne.
We know He has not abandoned us.
We know He is working even when we cannot see it.

And we know He can redeem even the most painful chapters of our lives for His purposes and our good.

Sometimes faith isn’t receiving an explanation.

Sometimes faith is standing in the middle of what makes absolutely no sense and saying, “Lord, I still trust who You are.”

So when tragedy comes, when our hearts are shattered, when prayers seem unanswered and we cannot understand why God has allowed the suffering, we hold tightly to what we know about His character and His promises.

Because this pain is not the end of our story.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
— Romans 8:18

We may not receive every answer to our why on this side of eternity.

But we know the One who holds every answer.

And when we cannot understand His ways, we can still trust His heart. ❤️

Only God’s love truly satisfies. Searching for love in anything other than the steadfast, unfailing love of Christ will always leave us empty. It’s not just disappointing - it can be destructive, even leading us into bo***ge.

When we don’t know real love - God’s perfect, unconditional love, we’re left vulnerable to counterfeits. We may allow ourselves to be mistreated, abused, or devalued, all while calling it “love.” In our brokenness and deep longing to fill the love-void in our hearts, we may convince ourselves that bad love is better than no love at all.

But God’s love fills, heals, and restores. Let Him show you how deeply loved and precious you are in His sight. Because once you’ve encountered true love, you won’t settle for the counterfeit.

Betrayal hurts differently when it comes from someone we love, a husband, a friend, a family member, but especially a fellow believer.

Sometimes the hardest part is wondering, How could someone who loves the Lord hurt me this deeply?

The truth is, we are all imperfect people carrying our own wounds and struggles. And sometimes, hurting people hurt people. That doesn’t excuse what happened or make the pain any less real, but it can help us understand that another person’s actions are often coming from what is happening within them.

And just to be clear, I’m not talking about abuse. Abuse is different and should never be minimized or excused.

People we love will disappoint us. We will hurt one another because we are deeply flawed. But there is One who will never betray us.

God will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He will always be faithful.

So love people deeply, but don’t build the foundation of your life upon fallible people. Build it upon Christ, the One who remains faithful when others fail us. ❤️

“For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”
— Hebrews 13:5

So many of us spend years searching for identity in people, places, and things.

We look to relationships, achievements, approval, or possessions to tell us who we are. And yet… those things never fully satisfy. They shift, fail, and leave us empty.

When our identity is tied to people, we feel lost when they disappoint or leave.

When it’s tied to places, we feel unsettled when life changes.

When it’s tied to things, we are left chasing the next achievement, purchase, or milestone—never at rest.

But true healing begins when we find our identity in Christ alone.
• In Him, we are chosen (1 Peter 2:9).
• In Him, we are forgiven and redeemed (Ephesians 1:7).
• In Him, we are complete (Colossians 2:10).
• In Him, we are deeply loved (Romans 8:38-39).

Healing comes when we allow God to peel back the false layers we’ve worn for so long, and let His Word define us.
Instead of striving for worth, we can rest in the truth:

I am who HE says I am.

Friend, you don’t have to live chained to other people’s opinions, past mistakes, or worldly measures of success. Jesus calls you into freedom, wholeness, and unshakable identity in Him.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion”.
Jeremiah 31:3

Sometimes the struggle we see on the surface is only part of the story.

Anxiety. Fear. Anger. Rejection. Betrayal. People-pleasing. Unforgiveness. Relationship conflict. Patterns we know are unhealthy, yet somehow keep repeating.

What if there is something deeper beneath the struggle?

Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Many of our present-day struggles have roots. And when those roots remain unhealed, they can continue to affect our relationships, our choices, the way we see ourselves, others—and even the way we see God.

Beginning Thursday, September 17 at 6:30 P.M., we’ll begin our Hurting Hearts Restored: Healing the Roots That Bind workshop, a Christ-centered journey designed to help us look beyond the symptoms and uncover the deeper issues of the heart.

Together, we’ll explore biblical truth and practical tools that can help us recognize unhealthy patterns, address the roots beneath them, renew our minds with God’s truth, and begin walking toward lasting healing and freedom.

Whether you are seeking healing for yourself or want to be better equipped to encourage and disciple someone who is hurting, you are welcome.

🤍 The workshop is offered FREE of charge. Participants will need a copy of Hurting Hearts Restored: Healing the Roots That Bind to participate. Books will be available for purchase through The Balm of Gilead Ministries.

God’s boundaries are a gift of love. From the very beginning, He set boundaries that separate light from dark, land from sea, good from evil, holiness from unholiness. Boundaries show ownership and worth, and in our lives, they protect what we value.

Scripture reminds us that we are the temple of the living God. That means you are precious and of tremendous worth - you belong to Jesus.

Yet many of God’s children don’t see their true value, and in turn, allow others to hurt or mistreat them. Unhealthy boundaries lead to unhealthy relationships, and broken boundaries lead to broken hearts.

But here’s the good news: when we allow the Lord to heal our hurts, He opens our eyes to see our worth in Him. We no longer feel the need to give in to negative patterns that rob us of peace. Instead, He teaches us how to set healthy, God-honoring boundaries that guard our hearts, protect our relationships, and keep bitterness and resentment from taking root.

You are valuable. You are chosen. You are loved. And with Him, you can walk in freedom and establish boundaries that reflect His heart for you. ❤️
