The Lubavitcher Rebbe sent a messenger to Philadelphia two years ago, Rabbi Zalman Lipsker Shlita, who was beloved by all, and he founded the wonderful organization "The Committee for Hebrew Speakers" which operates all over the city and beyond.
10+ years ago, the great Rabbi Lipsker
was joined by Rabbi Yitzhak Weber, chairman of the Chabad synagogue, in Huntingdon Valley to lead, grow, and teach to the rapidly growing Hebrew/Israeli/Jewish community in the Huntingdon Valley area. The committee offers its divine services to any and all levels and types of Jewish individuals which include:
- Synagogues services in the center of the city(as we grow our goal is to have a minyan ourselves daily), and in the suburbs of Huntingdon Valley for morning weekdays prayers (teflin) , friday night sevrcies, Shabbat, and ALL holidays as well as hosting special events for all ages to both connect our community network, and teaching the religion!
- Lessons - daily: Torah lessons, Mishnah, Gemara, Kabbalah and Kabbalah, Taniya, lesson for women, Parshat of the week, Halacha and more.
- Hebrew School (Sundays) , for children of all levels, by qualified teachers, which include: learning the language, reading and writing, Israeli holidays, all with fun and an Israeli atmosphere
- A newspaper in preparation for Shabbat every week a newspaper in the Hebrew language about the Shavuot Parsha
- Events throughout the year : a workshop for making shofar's, Yom Kippur at a hotel in the city with the participation of over 100 families, Sukkot happening for the whole family with facilities and booths, Simchat Torah laps and a festive meal, Hanukkah which includes ice skating, Purim bowling, a central Passover seder for the community with the participation of over - 150 people, Lag b'omer bonfire in, Guest speakers, challah bakes, music dancing for the whole family, and MANY MANY MORE new and fun interactive events to come! We've put together a diverse committee of dedicated volunteers to put together some very special and meaningful events year round!
- Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah club that prepares teenagers for the conversion to the Torah and reaching the age of mitzvah. As well as a beautiful banquet hall available for rent, with a full kitchen, security, surround sound speakers built in to host your special day ceremony and reception!
- The Heart Organization - providing assistance and help to needy families in our community by providing financial help to dozens of families who have benefited from the assistance to this day.
- Prisoner visits and sick visits
- Women's circle - every month we gather for a women's meeting with different contents.
- Follow US for all the new upcoming events, invite your friends and family, as well as keep track of our original events in one place!! The center is growing and growing, in fact only thanks to you and thanks to your blessed support, if you come to the various activities and events we hold, send your children, and your spouses, the center will be able to prosper, flourish and grow for you. Also, the financial support is just as important, with your generous contribution we can expand our activities and meet your social, cultural, community and spiritual needs in an optimal way.
