About the 180 Groupies Adventurer Club
Adventurer Club was started in 1939 and has clubs all over the world. The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades PreK-4 who agree to keep the Adventurer Pledge and Law. Each Adventurer is a unique and special person. Still there are several characteristics which are typical of Adventure
r-age children. Goals and Objectives
Why have an Adventurer program? The Adventurer program is designed to support parents in assisting children with the challenging task of developing fully as followers of Christ in today’s world. What is the Adventurer curriculum designed to accomplish? Children will, at their own level,commit their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. Children will gain a positive attitude toward the benefits, joys, and responsibilities of living a Christian life. Children will acquire the habits, skills and knowledge needed to live for Jesus today. Parents and other primary care-givers will become more confident and effective as co-laborers with Christ for their children. Objectives
The Adventurer Club provides fun and creative ways for children-
to develop a Christ-like character;
to experience the joy and satisfaction of doing things well;
to express their love for Jesus in a natural way;
to learn good sportsmanship and strengthen their ability to get along with others;
to discover their God-given abilities and to know how to use them to benefit self and serve others,
to improve their understanding of what makes families strong. Philosophy of the Adventurer Program-
The Adventurer program was created to assist parents in their important responsibilities as a child’s primary teachers and evangelizers. The program aims to strengthen the parent/child relationship and to further the child’s development in spiritual, physical, mental, and social areas. Through the Adventurer Program, the church, home, and school can work together with the parent to develop a mature, happy child. We want right habits, thoughts, motives, dispositions, and attitudes to be established. The Wise Man wrote,“Bring up a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he will not turn from it.”Prov. 22:6 (NIV). This is more than acliché—it is a scientific formula. The Uniqueness of the Adventurer Club-
The Adventurer Club was created to give children an opportunity to belong to an organized peer group. To join, children are invited to paticipate in various activities which will improve their social skills. From the time children start school until they reach puberty, their need to be with and be accepted by their peer group is increasingly strong. The Adventurer Club involves children in grades PreK-4 and their parents. The programming and planning for Adventurers should be simple and short, but creative. Parental involvement provides opportunities for parents to participate in the learning experience. One of the Adventurer Club objectives is to provide a meaningful and exciting experience as the children look forward with anticipation to some day being Pathfinders. Adventurer Pledge & Law-

About the Group 180 Pathfinder Club
Who are Pathfinders? Pathfinders are a worldwide organization of young people sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, though young people of any religious persuasion, or none at all, are welcome and encouraged to join the organization. Pathfinders offer a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
* Camping & camping/survival skills
* Grade appropriate leadership training
* Activities promoting community pride & involvement through outreach activities such as helping in downtown soup kitchens, collecting food for the disadvantaged, cleaning & maintaining city and county parks, visiting and encouraging the elderly, and MANY more
* Interactive training in a variety of recreational, artistic, nature, conservation, vocational, and outreach areas, with awards (honors) given for successful completion of the interactive training modules
* Personal care and encouragement by a caring staff member! While many school classrooms have 10-30 students per teacher, Pathfinders offers AT LEAST a 1 staff member to every 5 Pathfinder ratio! Joining a Local Pathfinders Club
Pathfinders is for those who are in the fifth (5th) grade or its equivalent through the eighth (8th) grade. 5th and 6th graders are often referred to as "Junior" pathfinders, and 7th and 8th graders are often referred to as "Teen" Pathfinders. The Teen Leadership Training (TLT) program works closely with the Pathfinder program and is for high school students (grades 9-12). Staff positions are available in many locations that offer adults the opportunity to make a difference for young people, develop friendships with fellow staff, learn more about God's creation, and improve their training skills. Who started Pathfinders? The short answer is that no one person did, but rather that a diverse group of youth-focused, God-loving, ministry-minded individuals in various location created "Pathfinder-like" clubs in various locations that eventually grew into the ministry we now know as Pathfinders. It began in the late 1920's. Pathfinders is now a global ministry affecting thousands (if not millions) of young people worldwide. Objectives
The Pathfinder Club curriculum of six classes and nearly 250 Honors lies at the heart of the program. The following objectives can be achieved as the club leaders seek to fulfill these.
1. Help the young people to understand that God and His church love them, care for them, and appreciate them. As Pathfinders are accepted and affirmed they will begin to appreciate the love of God revealed through the church and its ministry, and feel a need to be more committed to and involved with its program.
2. Encourage Pathfinders to discover their own God-given potential and to use their gifts and abilities to fulfill God's expectations for them and the part they can play in the great plan of salvation.
3. Inspire young people to give personal expression of their love for God by uniting them together in various outreach activities.
4. Make the number one priority of your club program the personal salvation of every Pathfinder. The Pathfinder age is a time when many decisions are being made that will affect the youth's future relationships and his or her own personal development. The peak time for discovering and making a relationship with God seems to be around 12 years of age.
5. Build into a Pathfinder's life a healthy appreciation and love for God's creation by enjoying outdoor activity (campouts, nature walks, nature honors, etc.). Pathfinders will experience a sense of wonder and worship as they observe and explore the beauty, the majesty, and the creative power in nature. Fellowship with God will become more meaningful.
6. Teach Pathfinders specific skills and hobbies that will make their lives more meaningful and will occupy their time with profitable accomplishments. Young people experience satisfaction and delight as they use their hands to fashion 5 useful articles from wood, plastic, steel, clay, felt and yarn and as they discover how things work and operate.
7. Encourage the Pathfinder to keep physically fit. This is one important way to safeguard against idleness and boredom. Teach children to care for their body and establish habits that will provide for their future happiness and usefulness (cf. 2T 536, 537; Educ. 195).
8. Give opportunity for the development of leadership by encouraging club members to work together and share in leadership responsibility. This will teach them to learn the lessons of obedience, discipline, resourcefulness, patriotism and the processes of group dynamics.
9. Seek to foster the harmonious development of the physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual life of the Pathfinder. The invigoration of mind and body, the fostering of an unselfish spirit, the attention to recreational and cultural activities, will provide stimulus for personal growth and act as an outlet for that restless energy, which is so often a destructive source of danger to the young person.
