Loving others isn’t always easy—especially when they’re difficult to love. But Jesus gives us a different starting point: abide in Him.

When we spend time in God’s Word, prayer, worship, and simply taking in the beauty of His creation, He changes our perspective. The closer we grow to Him, the more His love can flow through us.

Maybe the answer to loving someone better isn’t trying harder. Maybe it starts with spending more time with Jesus.

What does it really mean to abide in Christ?

In John 15, Jesus says that He is the vine and we are the branches. To abide means to remain, dwell, and make our home in Him. It’s more than visiting God when life gets difficult—it’s choosing to depend on Him every day.

When we remain connected to the Vine, He produces fruit in our lives. He gives us strength, changes our perspective, fills us with joy, and helps us love others the way He has loved us.

So here’s the question:
Where in your life do you need to abide in Him more?

Maybe it’s in your relationships. Your worries. Your future. Or maybe there’s an area of your life you’ve been trying to handle on your own.

Take a few minutes to watch this message from John 15, and let this be your reminder today: You were never meant to do life disconnected from Jesus. 🌿🙏

Journey Church Serve Day 2026 is almost here! On Sunday, September 6, we’re stepping outside the walls of the church and heading into our community to serve.

One of our Serve Day partners is Northside Baptist Church and Northside Academy for Early Learning in Charlotte. Together, we’ll help revitalize classrooms that serve children ages 0–4 through painting and other projects. We’ll also be preparing care packs to help serve people experiencing homelessness in the surrounding community.

Sometimes making a difference starts with something as simple as picking up a paintbrush.

These classrooms are places where children learn, grow, and hear about Jesus—and you can help create a space that makes a lasting impact.

Sometimes we think finding our purpose means doing something big, bold, or extraordinary.

But what if God wants to use you right where you are?

At work. In meetings. At home. In the routines that feel mundane.

The question is: Are we awake? Are we paying attention? Are we looking for the opportunities God has placed right in front of us?

God has uniquely gifted and designed you, and your purpose isn't reserved for just one day or one moment. It can show up in everything you do.

Make the most of every opportunity.
