Caterpillar Ministries has been spreading the love of Jesus to the families living in the Huntington Green Community in Huntersville NC

Caterpillar Ministries offers programming for the children, adults, and families living in Huntington Green mobile home neighborhood (in Huntersville, NC) — a multiethnic and multicultural under-resourced community. We are a grass-roots nonprofit and non-denominational Christian organization that was founded in 2007. We partner with our neighbors in Huntington Green to experience together the abun

dant life through Jesus Christ. Caterpillar Ministries supports the well-being of families, as well as nurtures and strengthens God-centered homes.

Through genuine relationships, we serve more than 1200 children and adults through our 4 pillars of care:
* Faith Development
* Academic Enrichment
* Crisis Care
* Advocacy Support

Programs and services include:
Afterschool and summer tutoring
Bilingual preschool program and summer camp
Bible study for adults and Kids Club for K-5th grades
Youth Bible study and small groups
Summer camp
Soccer camp and tournament in July
Free School Supplies — a distribution Day in August that serves nearly 300 children
Family events, including movies, Bingo, ice cream socials
Assistance with rent and utilities
Referrals to Beds for Kids, Lydia's Loft, and Loaves and Fishes.. and so much more. We partner with many local churches, businesses, civic organizations, and other non-profits.

💻✨ Cohort #5 is underway!

Thirteen adult learners have begun their ConnectTech journey through our partnership with the Center for Digital Equity—and we're especially excited that one of our former students has returned to continue building new skills and confidence.

Over the next couple of weeks, participants will complete 8 hours of computer and internet basics training, learning skills that help them navigate work, school, healthcare, communication, and everyday life online. Upon completion, each learner will receive a refurbished laptop for their family through E2D and the ConnectTech program.

What inspires us most is their commitment. After long days at work and caring for their families, these learners show up ready to learn, grow, and invest in their futures.

Did you know that approximately 85% of the families we serve do not have access to a laptop at home and rely primarily on a smartphone? We're working to change that—one family at a time.

A special thank you to our volunteers from Community School of Davidson, whose encouragement and support help make this program possible, and to our partners at Center for Digital Equity and E2D for helping create pathways to opportunity through digital access and education.

☀️🥫 20 Bags. Every Week. All Summer Long. 🥫☀️

We're incredibly grateful for our partnership with Davidson College Presbyterian Church, which is providing 20 full bags of groceries every week throughout the summer for families in the Huntington Green community.

Each bag is packed with pantry staples like rice, beans, pasta, cereal, fruit, cooking oil, and more—helping families stretch their grocery budgets during a season when children are home from school and food costs are rising significantly.

DCPC volunteers faithfully deliver these groceries to Caterpillar Ministries each week, and families can pick them up through our food ministry. This consistent support helps ease financial stress and ensures families have access to nutritious food during the summer months.

What makes this partnership even more meaningful is that DCPC serves alongside us in so many other ways. Their volunteers help in our office, tutor students, support special events and programs, and continually share their time, talent, and treasure with our community. Their commitment to Huntington Green is a beautiful example of faith put into action.

🎨☀️ There is no better way to kick off summer than with a week of heART Camp! ☀️🎨

A huge thank you to Natalie Friedl (art teacher at Torrence Creek Elementary) for sharing your gifts beyond the classroom and inspiring our budding artists with the creative activities you planned throughout the week. It was truly a magical experience as our campers created tie-dyed pillowcases, friendship bracelets, paintings, and so much more—all while sharing plenty of smiles, laughter, and new friendships.

Each day ended with a special treat, from popcorn parties to a visit from the Kona Ice truck, making an already wonderful week even sweeter!

Special thanks to Mrs. Knight (art teacher at Grand Oak Elementary), our amazing volunteers, and everyone who gave their time and talents throughout the week. Your support helped make these unforgettable experiences possible for our children.

🌭☀️ Our First Community Dinner of the Summer! ☀️🌭

On Wednesday night, we kicked off our first Community Dinner of Summer 2026 in Huntington Green, and it was exactly what community should be—good food, great conversations, a little UNO, some soccer, lots of laughter, and a chance to simply relax together.

A huge thank you to our friends at Word on the Street for providing dinner for our families. Special thanks to Pastor Charles for delivering the delicious hot dogs, baked beans, chili, and snacks and helping make the evening so special.

At Caterpillar Ministries, community dinners are about more than a meal. They create space for neighbors to connect, friendships to grow, stories to be shared, and relationships to deepen. Around the table—and on the soccer field and game table—community is strengthened.

As we begin another summer of walking alongside children and families in Huntington Green, we are grateful for partners who show up with generous hearts and helping hands.

🐛💚 PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: CHRIST COMMUNITY CHURCH 💚🐛

This past Saturday, an incredible group of middle school students from Christ Community Church spent the day serving in Huntington Green—and what a blessing they were!

These students rolled up their sleeves at our Crawford Chrysalis Center (CCC), helping make our programming space more beautiful, organized, and welcoming for the children and families we serve. They tackled piles of leaves, picked up sticks, pulled weeds, organized cabinets, sorted supplies, and worked hard wherever they were needed.

But perhaps our favorite gift was the message they left behind on our whiteboard:

"Jesus Loves You." ❤️

Alongside John 3:16 and Romans 5:8, it was a simple but powerful reminder of why they came—to serve and share the love of Christ.

What makes this partnership even more special is its history. Nearly 19 years ago, Caterpillar Ministries founder Anne Crawford served as Children's Minister at Christ Community Church. It was Christ Community that commissioned Anne to step out in faith and begin serving as a missionary in Huntington Green. From that calling, Caterpillar Ministries was born.

Since then, Christ Community has faithfully walked alongside our families through volunteers, mission teams, food and diaper drives, ice cream pop-ups, bingo events, special projects, and even the renovation of our Crawford Chrysalis Center.

Thank you, Christ Community, for investing in the next generation and raising up students who aren't afraid to serve, love their neighbors, and live out their faith. Your partnership continues to make a difference in Huntington Green, and we are so grateful.

🏡❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You to Everyone Making a Difference in Huntington Green ❤️🏡

We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers, corporate partners, and the team at Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte who invested their time, talents, and hearts in Huntington Green last week.

The work completed on five homes is more than just repairs—it is about helping families remain safe, stable, and secure in the homes they love. For many of our neighbors, these homes represent years of memories, hard work, sacrifice, and community. More than 40% of Huntington Green families own their homes, and many have lived here for decades.

The need is significant. Families are living with sinking floors, plumbing and electrical issues, homes that need accessibility improvements, missing railings, aging roofs, and other safety concerns. Thanks to partnerships like this, those challenges are being addressed one home at a time.

And this is only the beginning.

We are committed to continuing this work alongside Rebuilding Together and our neighbors, helping preserve affordable homeownership and ensuring that families can age safely, raise children, and thrive in the community they call home.

To every volunteer who showed up, every company that invested in this effort, The Town of Huntersville, and every partner helping make this possible—thank you. Your work honors the dignity of our families and reminds us of what can happen when a community comes together to care for one another.

This is not charity. This is neighbors helping neighbors. This is community. This is hope in action.

We are so grateful for our incredible Early Childhood Director, our very own Preschool Whisperer, and one of the biggest champions of Huntington Green's children and families.

Luz brings creativity, joy, energy, patience, and love into everything she does. Whether she's helping a nervous preschooler feel safe, encouraging a parent, planning engaging activities, or celebrating milestones big and small, she pours her whole heart into all of our Caterpillars, but most especially our littlest Caterpillars.

Her smile is contagious, her compassion is genuine, and her commitment to children and families shines through in every interaction. She truly embodies what it means to serve with love, grace, and joy.

Luz, thank you for being such an important part of Team Caterpillar and for loving our Huntington Green families so well. We are blessed by your leadership, your heart for children, and the joy you bring to our community every day.

🏠❤️ Community is at its best when neighbors help neighbors.

We are grateful to partner with Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte through their incredible She Builds initiative in Huntington Green. From June 9–11, volunteers will come together to complete critical home repairs that help older adults and families remain safe, stable, and living in the community they call home.

✨ Countless acts of kindness.

These repairs do more than fix houses—they preserve dignity, strengthen neighborhoods, and remind our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and supported.

From helping sell 50/50 raffle tickets to meeting race fans from all over, these two always bring joy, kindness, and a heart to serve wherever they go. We are so grateful for Speedway Children’s Charities and their ongoing support of nonprofits making a difference in our communities.
