In 2007, God led the Rodriguez family through the doors of HVBC. That same year, through the preaching of God's Word, both Gus and his wife, Laura, were saved and baptized. As the Lord continued to work in their lives, Gus was called into Christian service in 2008 and later joined the church staff in June 2012.
What began as one family walking through our doors became a testimony of God's faithfulness that we have all had the privilege of watching unfold. From the moment Gus and Laura were saved, it was clear the Lord had a plan for them far greater than they could have imagined that first Sunday.
For nineteen and a half years, Pastor Gus and Laura have faithfully served this church family with humble, steady devotion. Laura has stood beside her husband through it all, a true helpmeet in every sense of the word. She has supported, encouraged, and served alongside him with a grace that has blessed this church every bit as much as his ministry has. Together, they have modeled what it looks like for a marriage and a life to be built on the same foundation: Christ Himself.
Nineteen and a half years is a long time to show up, serve, and love people well. That's exactly what Gus and Laura did, quietly and faithfully, year after year.
Now, as the Rodriguez family steps into the next chapter God has for them, we do not say goodbye with sorrow, but with hearts overflowing with gratitude for what God has done through them here at HVBC. Heaven alone knows the full measure of the seeds they have sown and the lives they have shaped. We trust the same faithful God who led them through our doors in 2007 is the same God who is leading them now, and we rejoice knowing He is not finished with their story.
"For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister." — Hebrews 6:10
Pastor Gus and Laura, thank you for nineteen and a half years of faithful service, sacrificial love, and unwavering devotion to this church family. We love you, we are forever grateful for you, and we cannot wait to see all that God has in store for you next.
