Introducing…PASTOR SCHREFFLER !!

Zion welcomes Pastor URSULA Schreffler as our new part-time Visitation Pastor. Pastor Ursula has been the pastor of Zion, Union Deposit for the last 10 years. And now, with the addition of new members to our church, she has been called to serve our homebound members, to lead some Wednesday worship services, and to lead some Wednesday Bible studies. Pastor Ursula will still re-main the solo pastor of Zion, Union Deposit, so we will not see her for Sunday worship.
Pastor Schreffler was ordained in 2014 and Zion, Union Deposit is her first call. She is the Dean of the Harrisburg Conference of Rostered Leaders. Pastor Schreffler gives Holy Communion to folks at Harmony at Hershey and she helps to unload the truck for the Hummelstown Food Pantry.
Pastor Ursula is married to Curtis, who retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in 2022. Their son Austin is an actuary, their daughter Shyla is a freshman at West Chester University, studying nurs-ing, and their daughter, Leslie, will attend West Chester in the fall. Pastor Ursula also has a daughter named Leah, just like Pastor David does! Leah is a respiratory therapist at Lankenau Hospital. Pas-tor Ursula’s first career was teaching German in high school and at Messiah University. She is fluent in German and loves to travel and to crochet. Her favorite dog is the German Shepherd.

On Sunday April 13 the good people of St. Paul, Sandhill and Zion both took their second votes to complete the merger. The results of the votes are as follows:
St. Paul -- 14 yes votes, no negative votes
Zion -- 95 yes votes, no negative votes.

This is the final step to secure the merger of two of the oldest Lutheran Congregations in Dauphin County (circa 1752/1753). We are now one congregation -- Zion Lutheran Church, a blended congregation of St. Paul and Zion. We are thrilled to complete this journey. We will hold a final service at St. Paul the Sunday after Easter, April 27 at 9:30 am at St. Paul Sandhill.

On April 29, the congregation will settle the sale of the property to Hershey PCA.
