A little history of our church. The lots to build the first church were given by Dr. Standish. The first Church was built in 1882, at a cost of $2,000.00 The dimensions of the church were 50 ft. by 28 ft., with a 16 foot ceiling.
The church burned in February 1924. The insurance money of $5,000.00 was used to build a basement with a roof over it. The congregation worshiped in the basement until the present building was built in 1926 at a cost of $1,250.00. It was dedicated on March 20, 1927.
The South Methodist Church burned in 1929 and soon afterward the two Methodist Congregations united in 1931.
The Congregation of the Underwood Methodist Church united with the Hume Church in 1958. This information was submitted to the Hume....Coal, Corn and Cattle History Book by Brice Gunset.

Don't forget our Annual Lord's Acre Day BBQ and Auction. November 2nd, 2024 at the Hume Methodist Church. The meal starts at 11:00 a.m. with the auction to start at 1:00 p.m. This year we will be adding a hat auction to our agenda during the auction. Thank you to Scott Spencer of Walnut Creek Agra Services, LLC, Rhett Spencer of R3 Construction and Derek Sutcliffe of ProBuilt Products, LLC for donating hats. Pleae join us for some delicious food, fun and fellowship.
