We all make promises to God with the best intentions. But why is it that even when we know what's right and sincerely want to follow Him, we still drift back into old patterns?
This Sunday we wrapped up our journey through Nehemiah with a sobering truth: sin is more persistent than our promises. The people of God made binding commitments—to guard their relationships, honor the Sabbath, and faithfully worship. Yet when Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem, everything had unraveled.
The question isn't what we promise God or how earnestly we promise it. The question is: how will we be found before Him? Our hope doesn't rest in our performance but in Christ, who lived the life we couldn't live and bore the judgment we deserved. For those in Christ, there is no condemnation—only favor.
Stop relying on promises you can't keep. Instead, live a life of ongoing repentance, receive correction with humility, and cling to the finished work of Jesus. Because on that final day, what matters most is whether you're covered by His blood.
