Devotion: “He Heard My Cry”
Psalm 40:1–3 KJV
“I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.”
There are seasons when God does not move as fast as we want Him to move, but the scripture teaches us that waiting on the Lord is never wasted time. David said, “I waited patiently for the LORD.” That means he did not just wait with time—he waited with trust.
Sometimes God allows the waiting season to build our faith, strengthen our patience, and teach us that He is still God even before the answer shows up.
David said the Lord “inclined unto me.” That means God leaned in. He paid attention. He heard the cry that nobody else understood. Child of God, your tears are not ignored. Your prayers are not lost. Your pain has not been overlooked. The Lord hears the cry of His people.
Then David said God brought him up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, set his feet upon a rock, and established his goings. That is what God does. He does not just hear you—He lifts you. He does not just comfort you—He establishes you. He does not just bring you out—He gives you a new song.
Encouragement for today:
Keep waiting on the Lord. Keep praying. Keep believing. The same God who heard David will hear you. The same God who lifted David will lift you. The same God who gave David a new song can turn your cry into a testimony.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to wait patiently on You. Strengthen my heart while I wait. Lift me out of every pit, set my feet upon the Rock, and put a new song in my mouth. Let my life become a testimony that will cause others to trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Closing Thought:
When God brings you out, He does not just change your situation—He changes your song.
