Hughson United Methodist Church Trust God

Do Your Best For Christ It was dedicated at that location on October 28, 1906.

The Hughson United Methodist Church has been in existence in one form or another since the Methodist Church South started teaching Sunday school classes in a one room school house in 1899. With the donation by Hiram Hughson of a one acre plot at the southwest corner of Whitmore and Tully roads, the construction of the Hughson Methodist Episcopal Church was made possible. The City of Hughson was ev

entually laid out on the east side of the railroad tracks, and so the decision was made to move the 2 year old church building to a new location closer to the center of the new city. The move to the building's current location at the corner of Locust and 2nd Streets was accomplished in 1908. After several modifications including the addition of electric lights in 1918, the church appeared much as it does today. That building now houses the Hughson Missionary Baptist Church. In 1957 the property for our current church building was purchased and three years later the new parsonage was constructed. The Church Sanctuary and fellowship hall we now enjoy was built and consecrated in 1966, and with only a few minor face-lifts, remains as it did then. Over the last 100 years, many pastors have served the Hughson United Methodist Church or one of it's precursors.
