The Gospel of John
— Week 16: John 2:1-11 —
_______________
Jesus begins His ministry by revealing His glory.

At the wedding in Cana, Jesus turns water into wine as the first of His signs. This moment doesn’t just solve a problem at a celebration; it begins to reveal who He is and what His ministry will accomplish. The abundance of new wine points forward to the greater work Jesus came to do.

John 2:1–11 gives us the first glimpse of Jesus’ glory. His ministry has begun, and everything from here moves toward the hour when His glory will be most fully revealed at the cross.

The Gospel of John
— Week 15: John 1:35-42 —
_______________
Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone.

When John points to Jesus as the Lamb of God, his disciples don’t hesitate—they follow. They spend time with Him, learn from Him, and then immediately bring others along. Andrew finds Peter. Community forms. Discipleship begins.

This is the pattern of the Christian life. We follow Jesus, we walk with others, and we help others do the same. The Gospel doesn’t just save individuals—it forms a people.

The Gospel of John
— Week 14: John 1:29-34 —
_______________
Jesus is not just a teacher—He is the Lamb who takes away sin.

When John sees Jesus in John 1:29–34, he doesn’t introduce Him casually—he declares Him as the Lamb of God. This points back to the entire story of Scripture, where a sacrifice was required for sin. But Jesus is not just another sacrifice—He is the final one, the substitute who takes our place and satisfies the judgment we could never bear.

This is the heart of the Gospel: Jesus becomes your sacrifice, your substitute, and your satisfaction. Your sin demands death—but Christ has paid it. Believe in Him, and find the forgiveness only He can provide.

The Gospel of John
— Week 13: John 1:19-28 —
_______________
Knowing who you are starts with knowing who you’re not.

In John 1:19–28, John the Baptist is asked who he is—and he makes one thing clear: he is not the Christ. He refuses the spotlight so that all attention points to Jesus. His role is simple but crucial—to prepare the way for the One who is greater.

John understood his place. He wasn’t the Savior—he was the witness. And the same is true for us. Our lives aren’t meant to draw attention to ourselves, but to point clearly to Jesus, the One who has come to save.

The Gospel of John
— Week 11: John 1:14-18 —
_______________
God’s plan to save you is not an idea—it’s a person.

John 1:14–18 brings everything into focus: “The Word became flesh.” The eternal Word, who is God, entered into our world so that we could see His glory—full of grace and truth. In Jesus, God is not distant. He is revealed. He is near. And through Him, we receive grace upon grace.

The law showed us our need, but Jesus fulfills it. Where we were unfaithful, God remained faithful—and in Christ, He provides the grace our sin demands. If you want to know God, look to Jesus. If you want life, it is found in Him alone.

The Gospel of John
— Week 10: John 1:6-13 —
_______________
God sent John the Baptist as a witness to prepare the way for the Light. His mission was simple: point people to Jesus so that all might believe.

But when the true Light arrived, many rejected Him. Yet the promise remains—those who receive Him and believe in His name are given the right to become children of God. The question is simple: what is keeping you from believing in Jesus?

The Gospel of John
— Week 9: John 1:1-5 —
_______________
From Malachi’s promise, to the Incarnation fulfilled, to eight weeks asking What is the Gospel? — every step has led us here.

Now we open the Gospel of John. Not just to learn about Jesus, but to see Jesus as the Son of God and believe. “In the beginning was the Word…” The Word is God. The Word is Creator. The Word is Life. And the darkness cannot overcome Him. God has made Himself known to bring us life — and that changes everything.

What is the Gospel?
— Week 8: Mark 1:15 —
_______________
The Gospel doesn’t just save you—it changes you.

As we finish our series on What is the Gospel?, we’re reminded that anticipation is powerful—but the Gospel isn’t just something we look forward to or study for a season. It’s the good news that God saves sinners, and it reshapes everything: our actions, desires, thoughts, and affections.

So what now? We repent and believe. We rest and rejoice. We love Christ’s people. We speak the Gospel to the world. And we long for the day we stand before Him. The power of the Gospel isn’t theory—it’s transformation.

What is the Gospel?
— Week 7: 1 Corinthians 2:2 —
_______________
The Cross must remain at the center of the Gospel.

For weeks we’ve walked through what the Gospel is—God the Creator, humanity’s sin, Christ’s sacrifice, our response of faith, and the promise of His Kingdom. But we must also be clear about what the Gospel is not.

The Gospel is not self-improvement, culture change, or even just saying “Jesus is Lord.” The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for sinners and rose again, so that through faith and repentance we are forgiven and made righteous. If we move the cross from the center, we lose the Gospel.

02/10/2026

What is the Gospel?
— Week 6: Matthew 4:17 —
_______________
The Gospel is not complete until it is lived in God’s Kingdom.

Jesus doesn’t just forgive sinners—He restores them. He brings us into His Kingdom, the reign of God over His people. The Kingdom is already here through Christ, yet awaits its full completion when Jesus returns. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we are transferred from darkness into the Kingdom and called to live under His reign.

Your response matters. Repent of your sin and trust in Christ, for inclusion in God’s Kingdom depends entirely on the King. As citizens of His Kingdom, we live under His authority, experiencing forgiveness, adoption, and the hope of eternity with Him. Press forward in faith and obedience, knowing your reward is secure in His Kingdom now and forever.
