In Hebrews 6:9-10, the Bible says, “Beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, things that accompany salvation. God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love.” The question is, what accompanied salvation? According to the above verses, it’s good works, serving God, the one who saved us. Remember, we are saved to serve, not sit. We are not saved by good works, but to do good works. Ephesians 2:10 says, “We are created in Christ Jesus for good works.” Remember this truth on Monday, Labor Day. A day when workers are honored. God one day will honor His faithful servants. Many will hear Jesus say, “Well done my faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)

Paul said, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (II Corinthians 5:8) I am not afraid of dying because I really believe the above verse. For me, death means immediate entrance into Heaven to be forever with Jesus. Why would I be afraid of that? Like Paul says, I am confident that when this life ends for me, I’ll be with the Lord. Are you?

In Romans 8:32 Paul said, “God did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things.” For those times when, as a Christian, you fear you will not have enough, claim the promise of Romans 8:32.

In Romans 1:16, we find the face that would not blush. Paul the Apostle said, “I am not ashamed”. As a Christian can you say that? As I read the Bible I find a number of things that no believer should ever be ashamed of. First, no Christian ought ever to be ashamed of suffering for Christ. (I Peter 4:16) Second, no Christian ought even to be ashamed of Jesus’ return. (I John 2:28) Third, no Christian should be ashamed of the Bible and that he believes it. (Mark 8:38) A fourth thing which no Christian should ever be ashamed of is Jesus. (II Timothy 1:8) Fifthly, Christians should never be ashamed of God’s preachers. (II Timothy 1:8) Finally, as a Christian, never be ashamed of the gospel. (Romans 1:16)

I am unashamed.

In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way...no one comes to the father except through me.” When Jesus says He is “the way” to the father, He is clear about it. He never said He was “a way”, but “the way”. Many believe there is more than one way to heaven. Multitudes believe that Jesus is not the only way to heaven. World religions have provided many paths to salvation. People who think and teach such things are deceived. Jesus’ words in John 14:6 clearly teach the one-way nature of salvation. The Bible makes it remarkably clear that Jesus is the one and only way to God. The question I ask is this: What part of John 14:6 do people not understand?

In Matthew 5:16, Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men that may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” According to Jesus, he wants to use believers to be a light in a very dark world. We are God’s answer, solution, to the spiritual darkness of this world. The above verse teaches that we don’t do good works to be praised of men, but we do them that they would bring glory and praise to God. In Philippians 2:15, Paul wrote, “as children of God...you shine as lights in the world.” Is your life, as a Christian, a shining light? If it is, it will bring glory to God.

Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised (I Kings 8:56). Every day Christians must believe that God will keep his word and all the promises he made to us. You can whole heartedly count on the Lord when it comes to his promises. He will always keep his promises to you.

In Colossians 3:4, Paul wrote, “Christ is our life.” The Bible teaches that Christ is bread for our life, He is light for our life, He has words for our life, He is an example for life, He is the power of our lives, and Christ is our eternal life. (II Timothy 1:1) as a Christian, whatever you need in life Christ has it.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world.” That means you, everyone. God’s love for you was His choice. He chose to love you; you did not choose to love Him. The Bible says that we love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19) It may sound too good to be true, but God’s love for you is unconditional. He loves you just the way you are. There are no conditions or stipulations connected to God’s love. He loves you when you obey Him and when you don’t. That doesn’t mean He condones or tolerates sin. He died for it. God’s love for you is steadfast and unchanging. God loves you as much today as He even will.

If I were to die today, and in Heaven, say, “God, I am so sorry about a certain sin I committed years ago, a sin that has bugged me all my life. I am sorry about that sin.” God would look at me and say, “Doug, I don’t know what you are talking about.” You say, “Preacher, is God absent minded?” No, but He has a divine forgetter. In Isaiah 43:25, God says, “I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, and will not remember thy sins.”
